I fell in love with the magnolia several years ago. I don't remember the title of the book I was reading but it was set in New Orleans. The author described the fragrance to such a degree I could actually smell the blossoms in the pages of that book. From that time on I took note of the magnolia trees. The beauty and the fragrance that author described have stayed with me. I have a magnolia tree and this picture was taken by me Friday. This was the first bloom of the season on my tree. Today that bloom is gone, destroyed by the heat and lack of rainfall. Fleeting beauty...Lately I have also been enjoying the wonderful scents of confederate jasmine and gardenias. Lake County Florida is in full bloom.
