Delray Beach- A Great Week at the Beach!   The weather could not have been better in Delray Beach this week and we managed a nice walk every morning.  As we head into the weekend, I thought I’d share some of my favorite photos.   Larry and I try not to let a day go by without going to the beach for a walk. While there are numerous people there….walking, doing yoga, taking photos, or paddle boarding or surfing…..it’s still a quiet time to be at the beach. Sometimes, we return in the afternoon for a short drive just to see how different it is when everyone is there.   The beach comes to life… people eating a late lunch at one of the sidewalk restaurants, families just starting to pack up the cars with beach towels and chairs, getting ready to head home.   The surf was so good one morning,...

I often write of pet friendly homes in Boca Raton.   NOTE:  I do not consider Palmetto Bugs to be pet friendly!   It was early morning.  I walked out to get the newspaper, came in and felt something on my neck.  I brushed it off.  When I saw this giant Palmetto bug, I near died.  It was almost the size of my dogs!  (not really but he was big!)  I screamed.  Richard grabbed a shoe and ran after him.                                                The Palmetto ran in my closet.  Now I was hysterical.  These guys move fast.  Richard said what was I carrying on about; it was just a bug.  Just a BUG?  Was he kidding?  In my closet?   While he was looking for the bug, I was having an anxiety attack and emptying the entire closet.       No, I didn't find the bug in the closet or anywhere else. ...

Today’s Real Estate Market Snapshot     What’s Trending Now The trend of home sales remains sluggish in the first quarter according to the National Association of Realtors. This is due to increased prices, low distressed inventories and higher lending standards. Severe weather and higher inventories with increasing interest rates have played a role currently. Look for stable conditions similar to the end 2013 to be with us the next 4-7 months.   Interest Rates: Rates rose slightly in the first quarter and lightly will increase throughout the year. Currently 30 year rates are 4.40%, 15-year rates are 3.42%, and 5/1 adjustables are 3.10%   Home Sales: Sales are at a pace of 4.6 million units. Down .4% a month ago, and 7.1% from a year ago. 16% of sales in February were distressed prop...

Our Walk Today Wasn’t Just About the Sand and Ocean!   Our walk at Delray Beach ended up offering us more than the usual fresh air and sand today. It was a reminder of how grateful I was that my grandparents made it to this country over 100 years ago. The 3 police cruisers pulled up along A1A aren’t that unusual, even at 7 in the morning.  Neither was the Sheriff’s copter flying overhead along the coast. However, when the copter continues to circle overhead and hover in some areas, and you hear sirens going along A1A, then you know that something more is afoot. Living in South Florida, we’ve become accustomed to undocumented migrants coming ashore in the early morning hours.  And, that’s what this was all about. This group of 12 that arrived included one woman who was 7 months pregnant!...
