Delray Beach- Loved That Offshore Storm! When it rains it pours, and then there are days when we’re at the beach, when the sun has already said “Good Morning” and there isn’t a cloud in the sky and honestly…. I never even snap one picture. But there was one morning this week, when we were out long before the sun was even knocking at the door.  Thank goodness I had a battery pack on my phone!     There was a depression or storm just far enough offshore  to give us beautiful clouds, as well as the bait fish, which in turn brought in the birds. We also found evidence of one of the turtle nests having hatched. Scroll down and see if you agree.       This castle managed to last over night and I’m surprised because it was built so close to the water.  And, a peace sign made of flowers….. woul...

Delray Beach- Our Sea Gulls Are Back!   I have come to the realization that much as I enjoy sleeping in, getting to the beach at or before sunrise gives you the advantage of Mother Nature’s best light.  When we arrive after the sun has said “Good Morning, Delray Beach!” and is higher in the sky, the whole beach is awash in the bright light and the subtle shadings are missing.     This week we were excited to see sea gulls back at the beach.  I have no idea where they’ve been.  Perhaps they are the true snow birds!             The winds brought in something I haven’t seen in a while… jellyfish.  It’s easier to notice the beautiful blue Portuguese Man of War, but some of the jellyfish were hidden in the seaweed.  Just very glad that I had my walking shoes on.         The next two photos w...

This Week in Delray Beach- Beautiful Sunrises and We Lost Some of Our Beach! We managed to dodge Hurricane Cristobal (not sure where he went) however, we did have some wind and waves one day that managed to take back some of that sand Delray Beach paid to haul in.   On one particular morning, I had my head buried in my phone trying to pull up one of my camera apps and almost went over a mini cliff.  It was about a 4 foot drop, and it was only about a fifth of the damage that Hurricane Sandy left.  The waves were more choppy than smooth so the surfers didn't come out until later in the week.   I was lucky and had my “real” camera with me for this sunrise.  If you ever go to watch a sunrise, don’t take your eyes off the sun.  It peeks out just at the water’s edge and with every blink of y...
