A friend of ours, who recently bought a second condo in Sarasota, sent me this link to The 10 Best Big Cities To Retire In The U.S. Wow, they hit two cities on this list. Sarasota being #1 in the nation, according to US News & World Report, and Daytona Beach taking line 7.  By the way, one of the criteria used was housing affordability, and I can attest to that we are the most affordable coastal community on the Atlantic.While we do not have a condo in Sarasota, we are still very proud that our Daytona Beach coming in 7th place.Some smart people say that if this is one of the best places to retire, it is sure one of the best places to live even before you retire, or if you never retire, which is, probably, more of our scenario :)But anyway, this is a warm place; nice people; not really ... 10/10/2017

This is the view from the window of the unit we are remodeling. I wanted to take this picture as in a little over a year there will be a beautiful new bridge where you now see the platforms. There were more people as usual. The weather couldn’t be better, it was a low tide and 500 feet wide beach was gorgeous. We walked about 2.5 miles in one direction and it started getting darker when we were coming back.After about 8 the firecrackers started going out. I felt like they were coming from every condo on the beach. Soon it was taking over the whole beach, and you could see them on the ocean.Groups and groups of people were coming to the beach with folding chairs, and were setting them waiting for the main parade. All light are on, the race is still going.Going every 1st Saturday of July since 1959. 160 laps in this night race under artificial light… This Coke Zero 400 is the farewell race for Dale Earnhardt Jr., there is even a name for it: Dale-Tona race.
