Honeymoon Island State Park in St Joseph's Sound off Crystal Beach Florida is beautiful the entire year. It was especially beautiful this past week when Ronnie and I were out in the boat and I had my iPhone along to take some photos. This is the north end of Honeymoon Island State Park, far from the parking area and an area that few people walk to since it is such a long walk. Most visitors get there by boat, which is how we got there. After fishing a couple of hours I was really hot, so I asked Ronnie if he would pull up close to the shoreline so I could get in. I did not want to swim to shore for two reasons. First, the current was strong and second, there were large sharks in the water. Even a shark can be cute, especially when it is a baby shark! This little blacktip shark ended up on Ronnie's fishing line this week and before he let it go again, I had to have a photo. Naturally, larger sharks just have the line cut but this adorable little guy was brought on board and had the hook removed before he was returned to the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. 07/12/2013

Indeed, any day on the water is a good day and we have plenty of good days down here in Crystal Beach Florida! Yesterday I took the day off and went out on the boat with Ronnie. Naturally, he caught dinner! I relaxed and spent a little time in the water off Honeymoon Island State Park when he brought the boat close to shore for us to cool off. Today Ronnie was back out fishing, only today his buddy Bob was with him. They caught several shark but let them go again. Beer battered grouper was my brunch today! I had that with roasted potatoes and a nice cheddar biscuit! Talk about spoiled, yes I am! Ronnie and I went out for an early morning walk around Crystal Beach and down to Wall Springs Park and when we got back home, he made beer battered grouper for brunch! What better way to kick off a lazy Saturday at home? Where did we get the grouper since he did not catch grouper yesterday? His buddy, Bob, brought over 5 pounds of grouper fillet two days ago since he had more than he could eat. Bob is coming over for grouper dinner on Sunday, so there was a method to his madness........why else give away grouper, unless: 1- it goes to a good friend and 2- that good friend loves to cook and invites you over for dinner :-)   07/06/2013

Sun, rain and going out fishing - it is indeed a typical summer day here in Crystal Beach Florida. The day started out with plenty of sunshine, so Ronnie went out fishing again with friends and planned on coming in during the early afternoon. That was a good idea since the rains were back by 3 pm. While he did catch a few snook, he had to release them since they are not in season. It is the thrill of the catch that keeps him going out and that is what is important. As for the afternoon of rain, the plants are loving it and I can't complain either since it cools everything off. Just a typical summer day here in Crystal Beach Florida. 07/05/2013

Rain and more rain. It is indeed turning into a rainy week. My days start off with an early morning walk and generally it is at least sprinkling. While my hair does not appreciate all of this rain and humidity, the flowers are loving it and so are the vegetables. This morning I also put some new seeds into the garden, even though I know it is generally too late to sow. With all of these rains and this heat, I figured I might as well try. Crystal Beach is such a beautiful seaside community on Florida's Gulf Coast and there are currently 25 homes for sale here. These homes range in price from just over 100k to well over a million dollars. You could say that there is indeed something for each and every price range. As for 'pending sales', there are 4 homes in that category. Now let us look to what has sold so far for 2013: 11 homes have sold here in Crystal Beach during the first half of 2013 4 were over 500k 2 were over 200k 3 were over 100k 2 were over 80k I have to add that it is extremely unusual to find anything priced at under 100k here in Crystal Beach, even if it is just a 1 bedroom 1 bath bungalow. Crystal Beach Florida is indeed a wonderful community for all ages. Located directly on the shores of St Joseph's Sound and the sparkling waters of the Gulf of Mexico beyond, Crystal Beach is a small town. With no traffic lights, Crystal Beach residents can ride their golf cart to the local post office to pick up their mail. There are no mailboxes in tiny Crystal Beach! Here you have the feeling that you have stepped back in time, to the old Florida of the 1950's! Life is easy going with residents out for morning strolls along the seashore or on Pinellas Trail. Our little 'subdivisions' consist of perhaps a dozen homes and are not in the usual sense of the word a 'subdivision'. Crystal Beach is simply too tiny for that. Redfish for lunch here in Crystal Beach Florida is indeed another example of the good life! Ronnie was out fishing yesterday and they came in with several redfish. Naturally, Ronnie cleans and cooks our fish. He prepared this batch in rice flour and spices and then fried it up in olive oil.  We had this with garbonzo beans, which I prepared in the pressure cooker and he finished up. Basically, all I have to do is eat and then clean the kitchen. It doesn't get much better than that! Life in Crystal Beach Florida is wonderful.
