This is what a Fall sunrise looks like over our little village of Crystal Beach Florida. I really cannot imagine living any place else. Our little village on the shore of the Gulf of Mexico is directly east of Honeymoon Island State Park. There is always a gentle breeze blowing and at this time of year you no longer need to run the air conditioning but it is still warm enough for capris and sandals! The only cold month down here is February and as a rule we only get a couple of cold days where you have to cover the plants. Life is truly wonderful in Crystal Beach Florida. November always means so many beautiful colors to brighten up the day. It is a month when many of our tropical plants decide to grace us with flowers. It doesn't matter if it is an orchid plant or a hibiscus, I love all of the colors. While the rest of the nation is getting ready for winter and the trees are bare up north, we are enjoying splashes of every conceivable color down here. Crystal Beach Florida's Winter Arts & Crafts Festival will be taking place on November 30 and December 1 2013. This two phase festival will begin on Saturday, November 30th with the semi-annual Art in the Park event in Live Oak Park, directly on the shore of the Gulf of Mexico and across from the Crystal Beach Pier. Times for this event are 10 am to 4 pm.   The Craft Show will run both Saturday and Sunday in the Community Hall on Crystal Beach Avenue, a block away from Live Oak Park. This event will run both days from 10 am to 4 pm. This is indeed another tree with character. I took this photo right on Crystal Beach Avenue yesterday, during my morning walk. This tree was just so amazingly beautiful that I wanted to share it with my Active Rain family. There are so many wonderful Live Oak trees like this down here in Crystal Beach and the surrounding area. It reminds me of the Old South, even though Florida (other than part of the panhandle) is really not considered part of the Old South. 11/07/2013

November in Crystal Beach Florida - high in the 80s and I am loving it!  That is the wonderful thing about living here on Florida's Suncoast. Our winter months generally bring a couple of freezing days during in February but the rest of winter is a great time for fishing and golfing! Perhaps that is why so many snow birds spend their winter months down here and then relocate once they retire. In the last couple of years, I have seen more and more families moving down here as well. They are simply tired of all the snow and bad weather. There are a total of 3 Crystal Beach homes on the market for over 1 million dollars while 7 of these single family homes are priced between $600,000 and $999,999.  Six homes are priced between $400,000 and $599,999 and four are $399,999 - $250,000. Tonight is Halloween and it is Trunk or Treat at the park here in Crystal Beach Florida. Since so many families no longer wish to have their little ones going door to door, as they did when I was a kid (about a hundred years ago.....or it seems that long ago anyway), many have opted for things like Trunk or Treat. Here in Crystal Beach Florida, Live Oak Park, directly on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico, will be the site for Trunk or Treat. Residents will have cars decorated for the season and the kiddies can go car to car to get their treats! 10/30/2013

Crystal Beach Florida is the place to enjoy fishing at it's finest and Ronnie's photo of a red fish that he caught is a prime example of what you will find in our intercoastal waterways down here! With temperatures in the 60's over night and up in the high 80's during the day, we can still go fishing and enjoy the water. The gulf temperature is 74 degrees right now, which is perfect. 6th Annual Crystal Beach Florida Chili Cook-Off is taking place on Sunday, November 3rd 2013 from 12 noon til 4 pm in Live Oak Park, directly on the shore of the Gulf of Mexico. This annual event is the main fundraiser for our local Youth Center on Crystal Beach Avenue. There will be prizes and raffles, carnival games, bounce houses, beer, wine and naturally many varieties of chili cooked up by various community groups and clubs. Naturally, there will also be live music down near the Crystal Beach pier, as you can see from photos of previous events. Come out and support the community! Ever had venison chili? Crystal Beach Florida is having it's Oktoberfest tonight, October 25, here in beautiful Crystal Beach! Beginning at 6:30 this evening, there will be free food and beer with the purchase of a Crystal Beach mug! The festivities will include polka dancing, polka music, a polka dance contest and many community members will be bringing pot-luck to add to the choices of food to enjoy. October does indeed mean it is time to plant that Florida garden but you want to get it completed soon. This is the time of year that so many wonderful things will grow in our gardens down here in the Sunshine State. I have little red, yellow, orange and purple pepper plants growing in the garden right now. Naturally, there is plenty of parsley, chives, basil and other spices both on the balcony and down in the garden. My tomato plants are thriving with buds and tomatoes and the hot pepper plants are growing like crazy!!! While the northern states are getting ready for their first blanket of snow, we are enjoying sunshine and afternoons that are in the high 80's to low 90's. Snapper for dinner does indeed sum up why I love living in Crystal Beach Florida and that is what was caught yesterday. Ronnie and I took advantage of the beautiful weather and took the boat out for the day! It was a relatively cool morning, only about 74 degrees when we got on the water but that changed once the sun poked it's head through the clouds. Snapper, red fish, snook, grouper - these all sum up why I love living in Crystal Beach Florida!
