We have a female squirrel that visits us several times a day and even goes so far as to attempt getting into the house on her own since she knows the bin with peanuts is kept by the sliding glass door just for her. When other squirrels get onto the balcony to get peanuts, she chases them off quickly! Well, as a former educator and always wanting to improve the learning skills of others, I started putting the peanuts inside a little bamboo table to see if Mama Squirrel could learn to get in and get them. Naturally, she did - so wanting to increase her learning curve, we then put the entire container inside the little table to see what she would do. This resident hawk lives here in Crystal Beach Florida! He spends much of his day up in the trees watching the ponds and lakes for fish. We have a lot of hawks around that look like this one and I would love to know what type of hawk it is. As you can see from the photo, his underside is totally white and fluffy!!! Yes, Florida stays green year round and I am SO GLAD! I cannot imagine ever having to deal with snow again! I love being able to take walks and see citrus trees bearing their fruit, as these tangerines below show. January/February is time for citrus fruit and, of course, strawberries!!! Crystal Beach is indeed home to many of Florida's beautiful Osprey! They love our warm climate and the abundance of fresh fish that they can get from the Gulf of Mexico! This amazing bird was resting on one of the top branches of a tree next door. I was going to get a second shot but he flew away, out over the Gulf of Mexico before I could get the digital to take another shot. The temperature is back in the high 60's down here in Crystal Beach Florida and it is expected to be up in the 70's all of next week! Winter is officially OVER down here in the Sunshine State! Once again I am sharing some of the diverse housing to be found right here in beautiful Crystal Beach Florida. Crystal Beach, Florida, is indeed a great place to live! Ron and I moved into our new place about 2 months ago and have everything unpacked and hung up already. Living only 2 blocks from the Gulf of Mexico sure has its advantages. Want to take an evening stroll? What could be more inviting than this scene? Shade trees and benches so you have a place to sit and contemplate life (or your naval) and appreciate the fact that we live in Paradise. Crystal Beach is a unique place. There is NO home mail delivery! Everyone has a PO Box and picks the mail up at our little post office. The hours there are also unique: 10-12 and 2-4 Monday through Friday.
