We all had a good time at the Jump's Tiny Tavern Horseshoe Tournament in Cocoa beach on Saturday but the heat kept a lot of regulars from showing up. The one thing I've noticed that stands out is that no one has anything negative to say. Your opponent is cheering you on to get that big ringer (even though they hope you don't :-). Everyone is competitive but no one has an attitude and I think that's a good way to be if you're a Realtor as well. Nice guys DO finish first in my book! Steve and Scotty scoring and picking up shoes. Walker zeroing in on the peg with Gino watching. Gino used to coach Junior A Hockey in Cleveland and I'm a big Hockey fan. I could probably write a book about everyone that comes to Jump's and maybe someday I will :-) Steve shooting another ringer. Just the guys h...

It's a great way to beat the heat!  What could be finer than lovely ladies and an ice cold Corona at the Pier in Cocoa Beach, Florida? You can take in the "sights" and then jump on your board to ride a wave or just relax in your beach chair. Life is good! Want to get away from it all? This is an NOAA map of the Gulf Stream. Significant amounts of oil have not yet entered the Loop Current and even if they do, you can see that the Cocoa Beach area should not have a direct hit. The oil will be diluted and off shore at that point and we may see a few tar balls wash up. Certainly nothing that clean up crews can't handle. My wife went to the beach today and the water was clear and beautiful to swim in.  Some of my northern customers have fears about property values in the area being affected by the spill. To them, I say Cocoa Beach is still pristine and swimmers have nothing to worry about. It's a great place to live or visit and the spill should not have any significant impact on home prices. Come on down and stay a while! There were some tar balls that washed up on shore...

That's Steve, Scotty and Tom getting ready to throw some shoes with me. I just finished my bike ride and decided to throw some practice shoes when the "Horseshoe Kings" wanted to play a game. I found my range tonight and Scotty and I won after a see-saw battle :-). Good times, good people, what more can you ask for? Cocoa Beach has such an eclectic mix of people that all seem to get along simply because they are "Beach People". Home prices are excellent right now and it's a great time to be a buyer!! This lady tells it like it is. No candy coating. Sooner or later this Disaster is going to effect you no matter where you live. She was invited to go behind the scenes of BP's clean up and propaganda effort. Please take the time to watch this video to get a perspective from a Louisiana coastal resident telling her story of how oil disaster is effecting not only her families lives and health, but thousands of families and continuing to effect thousands more.  Click here to watch Video---> http://www.sott.net/articles/show/210973-Power-To-The-People-Louisiana-Woman-Sounds-Alarm-Over-Looming-Gulf-Health-Disaster

As most of my AR friends know, I ride my bike for about an hour every day and I've added a new twice a week (or more) stop to my schedule. Jump's Tiny Tavern in Cocoa Beach is a cross between Cheers and your typical Florida beachside watering hole and "Bad Attitudes" are not welcome! The beach is only a 5 minute walk if you feel like catching the ocean breeze with your honey after a Corona. It's a nice alternative to the commercialism of the Cocoa Beach Pier just down the road. There are a lot of friendly, fun loving locals here. The horseshoe pits are a big attraction and there's a tournament on Saturdays, weather permitting. I love playing horseshoes, so this place is a natural for me! That's my bike by the tree. Owners Steve and Angel Allen always welcome you with a smile, a handsha...

The Beach Shack in Cocoa Beach has been a favorite blues bar for decades. It's a friendly place to enjoy good music and cold beer on a Saturday afternoon right on the beach. Coconuts, another fine establishment, is right across the street. Cocoa Beach Pier Volleyball Class. There's always something to see and do at the beach. Riding the waves in Cape Canaveral (with no tar balls!). The oil slick in the Gulf is unlikely to have a major impact in Brevard County according to the latest current flow data. Royal Poinciana trees are blooming in Florida right now. This tree is in the front yard of a beachside rental home in Cocoa Beach and I just had to stop my bike ride to take this colorful photo. The afternoon thunderstorms had just rolled through and that's why there are petals on the ground. Typically a 2/2 similar to this would rent for about $1000 per month with a one year lease. The beach is less than 900' away. Contact me to learn how you can start enjoying the good life here on the Space Coast. Talk to the BEACH EXPERT! I just achieved 100,000 points as an Active Rainer and it seems like the time just flew by! There are so many wonderful and talented people here and I feel like I can relate to just about everyone. I started thinking about numbers and the relevance they have in our lives both as milestones and motivation. I have lived 22,675 days on the planet. Since the average life expentancy of a US male is 986 days less than a Canadian and I was born and raised in Canada, I'll go with 28,580 days. That means I have 5905 days left but wait! My Dad has lived for 31,273 days (86) so that leaves me with 8715 days if heredity has anything to do with it. The highest male life expectancy is in Iceland at 29,273 days but then I'd have to give up the beach and bikinis and shovel volcanic ash off my driveway....

The beach is packed this week end and you have to get there early to find a good parking space. Coconuts on the Beach is a popular watering hole and beach area. The Coconuts Crowd. It's party time on the beach! My Grandson Thomas approves of this blog! :-) He's a big fan of the beach. Food for thought: When Hiring a Contractor in Brevard County, Florida   The Brevard County Unlicensed Contractor Program was developed to protect the public, ensure qualified contractors are legally advertising and properly insured to perform the work in their trade, and maintain the credibility of the Construction Industry. Things to know: All citizens pay for the effect of unlicensed activity on insurance costs, taxes, credit losses and for damage done to the owners, employees, and suppliers of licensed competitors. Unlicensed contractors cannot pull permits. This means the plans for the work to be done are not inspected and may or may not meet the local building codes. Doing business with an unlicensed contractor exposes consumers to a variety of risks involving liability claims, st...

What a difference a little paint can make. Check out these Before and After photos of a Melbourne, Florida exterior repaint. After we pressure washed this Melbourne home we repaired all of the staircase stucco cracks, applied a clear sealer (due to chalkyness), and applied two coats of Sherwin Williams A100 satin exterior paint. Minor modifacations. Big difference. First I got rid a bunch of Post office type cubby holes. Re did the Crown molding. Then removed the ugly old Popcorn. Skip Troweled the ceiling, Sprayed Knockdown on the walls and the newly modified built-ins, then Primed and Painted the ceiling and walls with a Sherwin Williams interior  super paint,  Then added a Sony 50" plasma TV . What do ya think?BeforeAfter
