  Hernando County Market Snapshot February 2013 Home sales in Hernando County Florida rebounded in February 2013 with an increase of 13% in closed transactions over January.  The number of homes under contract also increased by 13% over the previous month indicating a strong buyer activity. Morning at the Farm in Brooksville, Florida We went out early this morning to pick fresh strawberries from a farm in Brooksville, Florida. Click on the link for more information about the farm.   The sun was rising above the trees and when I got out of the car, the Spanish Moss hanging from the tree was catching the morning sunlight just right.   It was a peaceful morning with cows grazing nearby, new calves playing around them, birds singing, bees buzzing in the strawberry fields, and a few early birds like us coming to the farm for the fresh strawberries. Florida is not all about sand and sun but great parts of our state is agricultural with a great variety of produce.  Strawberry season in Florida begins at the end of November followed by Blueberry season that begins around mid-April... 01/11/2013

Pick your Own Strawberries in Hernando County, Florida   Strawberry season is here and farm fresh strawberries are now available for picking or purchase at JG Ranch on Wisconsin Rd in Brooksville, Florida,  At the beginning of January when others are shoveling snow, here in FLorida we hit the fields to pick our own strawberries. We went out today and picked several pounds of delicious strawberries in just a short time. Sunday Reflections:  Quiet Time Today is the third of Advent which should be a time of joyful anticipation of the upcoming Christmas celebrations.  With last week's incomprehensible events in Connecticut, this joy seems to have been taken away from us.  But it also gives us pause from the hectic activities we engage in during the holiday season.  Maybe some quiet time to reflect, think, appreciate all we have in our lives, and again be thankful for that, is the one silver lining that will give us some comfort. Video | Christmas Parade in Brooksville Florida 2012 The 38th Annual Christmas Parade sponsored by the Brooksville Kiwanis Club took place yesterday in Brooksville, Florida. There were almost 100 floats, bands, and other entrants in this year's parade that found its way through downtown Brooksville. This year's theme was "I'll be Home for Christmas - A Salute to Veterans".  According to the theme, five grand marshals were selected from local veterans representing five different conflicts from WWII to the "War on Terror".  The one thing all these military members and veterans have in common is "To be home for Christmas!" In Brooksville, Florida It's Christmas Time Little Baby with Elvis Today was the annual Christmas Parade in Brooksville, Florida, an event that always draws a huge crowd of spectators.  For 2 1/2 hours floats, dance troupes, and bands are making their way through downtown Brooksville. Brooksville Christmas Parade 2012 | Brooksville Florida The Annual Brooksville Christmas Parade will take place on Saturday, December 8, 2012 beginning at 10:00 am. The parade is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Brooksville with many local clubs and organizations are participating.
