Today is an interesting almost "debateable" topic of whether or not people should take advantage of privacy trees, fences or both.  Fences are nice, and they get the job done for the most part, but they aren't always nice-looking and do require maintenance every five years or so.  My fence can't even keep our dogs in our yard!  Those dogs are escape artists! Now I also have privacy trees, and they were started by the former owner of this house.  I like them a lot more than I initally suspected.  About 10 years ago, someone bought the piece of land immediately behind our house and built a large 2 story colonial.  Thankfully, because of our privacy trees, we cann see the house at all and the backyard still feels personal!  These trees can get expensive too, especially if they do not take ... 04/26/2011

Cell Phones.  You can't talk about real estate without noticing that reealtors are notoriously on their cell phones.  As cell phones have evolved with the business, I find that we use our cell phones more and more everyday.  These new phones seem to break a lot easier than former phones did, don't you agree? It seems that while cell phones are capable of doing much more these days, and yes it is nice to get emails on your phone, the phones come up with all sorts of new problems as well!  The phones randomly shut off, randomly make strange noises, freeze up...you name it!  Battery life seems to be getting shorter with each new phone, and they want to make you purchase extended life batteries or all sorts of chargers, so you can charge them wherever.  These companies are being smart when ... 04/20/2011

The Keller Williams offices in Newark, Wilmington, Middletown and Dover in Delaware are all doing a combined family fun day/5K for the Haxton Family.  Please take a minute to read their story. On Christmas Eve of this past year, Paul and Trina Haxton were driving home from her parents home with their two daughter, Hayley and Lyndsey.  They lost control of the vehicle and crashed.  Paul and Trina were thrown from the car, and Paul was killed.  Trina was immediately flown to Baltimore for intensive surgeries to preserve her life.  She suffer a c4 fracture in the crash and now is a completely paralyzed except for her face.  The two daughters escaped from the accident with minor cuts and bruises. Well in Bear, Delaware today, we have a day of nothing but rain.  Rain Rain Rain.  The rain always puts people in a bad mood it seems like.  For me, I can always feel when it is raining outside because of the drastic pressure change I feel in my joints.  Unfortunately, it is only pain!  There are some other things I don't like about rain too.  I hate that some people don't seem to understand that rain makes driving more dangerous - the opposite is true as well.  Rain does not mean you need to drive at 15 mph everywhere you go. There are great things about the rain though, don't get me wrong!  It's these April showers that push spring along to the beautiful weather of Summer!  It also helps cool us off after long stretches of heat which is always welcome when it gets just too hot outside... 04/08/2011

So here's my item of pondering today.  Pets in the home.  As adults, we tend to be the ones that have to take care of them and take ownership of them as when kids say "Dad, I want a puppy!"  they aren't truly thinking of all the bills that comes with dog.  It also involves all the work of taking care of them and teaching them to be potty trained and not chew up shoes.  Now don't get me wrong, I love animals.  We have three dogs of our own at home a golden, and two yorkies, and we love having them.  They are bundles of joy, but they are still a lot of work.  I'm just wondering as fellow home owners out there, do you feel that owning a dog is worth it in the end?  Just asking out of curiosity today! 04/07/2011
