As a Realtor® in Hockessin, DE I have watched the area grow and triple in population since starting in the business in 1984. Although change and growth has been opposed in many areas of Hockessin I think it has stayed within a reasonable growth pattern. The Greater Hockessin Area Development Association has played a big part in the controlled growth and civic improvement of the area since 1967. As a Realtor® in Hockessin, DE I am highly conscious of different areas of growth not only in Hockessin, but in other surrounding areas. I have a concern for certain areas that have grown too big, too fast. In my opinion, some of this growth that I've seen has done more harm than good in some of the localities. Even though Hockessin has tripled in population since 1990 it is my opinion that the g...

The much anticipated Greg's Produce in Hockessin, DE is finally open as of Tues. Oct. 27th! Situated in the original building that housed Tomm's Produce this is sure to be a welcome shopping convenience for the Hockessin community! I walked in the day after they opened and they were quite busy setting things up and helping customers. The produce looks great, very fresh and robust. I was eying up the fat bags of jalapeno peppers! I've already sampled some apples that my wife picked up yesterday and what a difference from what I'm used to! Looks like we'll be regulars at Greg's.   Greg's Produce in Hockessin, DE is located at 6949 Lancaster Pike and is open 7 days a week from 7 to 7! 302 352-1717 Plenty of time to stop in before or after work or on the weekends. Here's Greg on the day bef...

Hockessin, DE is a great place to live. The village of Hockessin, DE was established in 1688 and has been one of the fastest growing areas in Delaware since 1990. Some historians believe that the town's name was derived from the Lenape Indian word for "pieces of bark" or from the misspelling of the word "occasion" as it was pronounced by the Quakers who were Hockessin's original settlers. The geography is a  landscape of beautiful rolling hills and woodlands extending into neighboring Chester County, PA. In the past thirty years or so, Hockessin has transformed from and agricultural base to a very desirable and affluent community. Some of the area amenities include the new Hockessin Athletic Club, the PAL Center, Hockessin Soccer Club and the newly renovated Hockessin Library. Some othe...

I have always loved covered bridges and I see them and use them often when riding my bike through New Castle County, Delaware. Sadly, the remaining Covered Bridges of Delaware are few. It is so important to preserve these beautiful structures. There's something about a red covered bridge in the scenic countryside that just gives me a warm feeling when I see it. The most recently renovated bridge at Wooddale in Greenville Delaware is my favorite! It is on the Red Clay Creek and it was originally built in 1850 and most recently ravaged by Hurricane Floyd. It was rebuit to it's present state in 2008 with much involvement from the community of Wooddale and the surrounding area. It has very pleasant architecture with the long lattice windows on either side! Yes, my favorite of the coverd bri...

The Village of Hockessin (an unincorporated area of New Castle County) is home to the PAL center on Lancaster Pike, which offers activities and clubs for youth from 8-18 years old.  Another recent feature is Tweed's Park, which contains the over 200 year old log Tweed's Tavern (moved from a nearby location) and the Hockessin Athletic Club, all at the corner of Valley Rd. and Limestone Rd. This is across the road from Lantana Square Shopping Center, which contains a grocery store, restaurants, health facilities, banks, and other businesses. Nearby is the Hockessin Library, a modern facility currently being enlarged due to its popularity.
