Tidal Basin (Washington, DC)

Washington has a lot of places where you can get great airplane shots, and this spot, near  the Tidal Basin, which is just across the river from National Airport, is one of my favorites.  Because of the noise abatement requirements, the planes tend to ascend pretty quickly.  Looking at this photo, what  I really liked was the sky.

More blossoms on our April flowering trees.  It's so much fun to drive around town right about now.  The Washington, DC cherry trees are just amazing.   If you are planning a move to or from the Washington area, I can help.  I am licensed in DC, Maryland and Virginia.   Please email me at Housepat@mac.com or call 202-549-5167.  Search all listings in the DC Metro area.

Washington is still crawling with visitors from around the country who came miles and miles to see our national treasure - the cherry blossoms.  And this afternoon, I joined them.  When the festival began in late March, the cherry trees were bare.  We're now into the last week of the Cherry Blossom Festival, and while a few of them are beautiful (they call them the harbinger trees - they bloom eight days before the rest - most of them are barely there.  By mid week, we are hoping that the rest of the trees will be in full bloom in time for the Cherry Blossom parade.  But for right now, there is just a hint of pink around the Tidal Basin and the Potomac River.    If you are planning a move to or from the Washington area, I can help.  I am licensed in DC, Maryland and Virginia.   Please e...

Today, it was gray and cloudy and, later in the afternoon, a little rainy.  But the temperature was warm enough to sit at a sidewalk cafe for lunch.  It was so warm, it could have been late April, when there are cherry trees all over Washington in full bloom, oh and at the Tidal Basin. I, for one, can't wait.   If you are planning a move to or from the Washington area, I can help.  I am licensed in DC, Maryland and Virginia.   Please email me at Housepat@mac.com or call 202-549-5167.  Search all listings in the DC Metro area.

I took this out my car window, and no!  I wasn't driving!  These trees are just amazing.  This week, Washington is dressed to the nines, and this is the kind of scene I can imagine Auguste Renoir painting on a huge canvas.  These trees are around the Tidal Basin, and when they are in full blossom, walking around them is almost a religious experience. © 2009 Patricia Kennedy.
