I was listening to the news last night when I heard this. But only a handful of counties in the country recycles them. Also,ACE and other hardware stores are encouraging franchise owners to create in store recycling centers for these light bulbs.        With spring approaching soon, some home buyers are going to be coming out from under the rock or box where they have been hiding for years ( Well! maybe they have not been hiding under a rock or box but I am sure you get what I'm trying to say ). And spring will be a great time to hold open houses since some home buyers don't like to shop for homes due to the sometimes 20 degrees below cold weather depending on where you live. ( Some of active rain readers are from all over the world so I am trying to get my point across to everybody ).                                                                               So when home buyers come to your open house. After they finish viewing the house, before you don't want them to leave empty-handed. So what are some things that you can gi...

With foreclosure rate at a all time high, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is promoting rules that would force lenders to make closing costs easier to understand and reveal payments to mortgage brokers.                                                         The proposal is less strict than the one that failed in 2002, but still would require lenders to provide an accurate good faith estimate that doesn't change by more than 10 percent. The most controversial portion of the proposal would require any lender payments to mortgage brokers to be noted on the good faith estimate. While some people feel that this is a good thing, some people opposes the rule change including Marc Savitt,president-elect of the National Association of Mortgage Brokers who says that "HUD's goal...

So today I was doing my daily reading. All of a sudden telephone rings. I picked up the telephone and we start talking. The person said that they saw my profile on Active Rain. ( I was very happy to hear that -Finally somebody have found me. Take my picture off of the milk cartoon ) Happy only for like less than fifteen seconds? Why? The person was a telemarketer from one of those Referral Relocation companies. I forgot the name but he said that he was going to e-mail me some more information but he never did. ( If you all want to know,I will try to see if there is a way that I can find out )                                                                                He talked about their program. Why didn't I hang up the telephone on him? Well! I guess since I don't want nobody to d...

One of the first things that I do when I log into Active Rain is to check for referrals. Well,I did that to today and I discovered this site. I am sure some of you know it. But this is for the rest of the people who don't about this site. It is called www.classifiedflyerads.com It is supposed to be a tool that helps realtors, employers, auto dealers and service providers to promote their business.        Also, this site allows you to create flyers via through mobile phone ( That's nice ) and allow it to be spotted to on a host of online directories and optimized for maximum exposure on the most popular search engines to promote their services. You can make free flyers. However to make more flyers, video tours and have your flyer with its own domain name, that is going to cost you some...

So far, business is not going as I planned. So as I was reviewing my goals for the year the other day,a thought came to me - CD-ROM Business cards. I have heard that some people use them. But what I don't know is if using a CD-ROM Business cards works. I think CD-ROM Business Cards would be also good at Open Houses.                                                                                                                      Instead of giving them a Flyer that they probably going to throw away days if not hours later, why not give them a CD-ROM Business Card? They might not want to buy or sell a house now,but later on when they need your assistance, that CD-ROM Business Card is going to come in handy. But I want to know if this really works. Plus, this can cost a lot of money. Does an...

Can anyone please tell me when did free cost you something? Can someone please tell me when did paying for something become free? I am sick and tired of people always saying that they are offering free services or products only to request money later on. I think it sucks and very misleading. I"ll appreciate it if I can know upfront whether something is free or not. To me,it says that you are either a fraud, thief, crook, liar or all of the above if your saying one thing and doing the opposite of what you should be doing. Sorry if I am ranting about this but I just don't know why people say "Advertise for free. But you have to pay for it. This has to stop. That's all I am saying. I was just blogging on here when I saw one of the Active Rain Sponsors ads on this site. It says "Be More Productive". Bring the blog. You're paid to sell, not to blog. We blog for you $399/yr. Of course,we all blog on here to share information/knowledge,gain knowledge from the brilliant real estate professionals on this site, get good leads, referrals and hopefully turn our leads and referrals into closing. But if you pay someone to blog for you, isn't that cheating? I just want to get your opinion on this because I can be wrong. Maybe I am missing something here or not seeing something. But I just want to know what you all think about that. And if it is not cheating,do you think paying $399 is too much or too little? Please let me know what you think about this.  Looking for a Washington ...

I just called this homeowner who had a home on sale in a certain area but the listing agreement just expired. He told me to e-mail him information about me,my company, why I should be the listing agent for his property and some comps because some real estate agents have already called him about trying to re-list his property. I did just about everything trying to get some good comps. I even went outside of the Subdivision and did just the zip code for comps in his neighborhood for the past year or so. Any advice?                                                                        I am sure some of you real estate professionals know about this site. But this is for the real estate professionals who doesn't know about this site. I am sure if you do a search on Google,Ask,Bing or yahoo the word "For sale by Owner",it will bring up a bunch of websites that promises to give you a ton of For Sale By Owners and you get absolutely crappy leads once you have paid like $39 or $49 a month, some even more. Well, I ran across a website a while ago that you can actually access a list of For Sale By Owners in your Neighborhood. The website is www.owners.com.  And the great thing about this website,it is absolutely free. I thought that I share it with everybody on here. Hope you get one of your next listings ...

Right now, I am reading a Real Estate Investing for Dummies - It is a very good read so far. But I want to know if any one of you have read, reading or listening to any good books or cd's on the topic "Real Estate Investing" I say that because it looks like a lot of books in bookstores now are like infomercial so I don't even bother with them. I really don't know much about real estate investing that's why I am reading the Dummies book. I am thinking of also joining a Real Estate Investing Club and possibly take a class. Any comments? Are you overwhelmed with clutter in your house? If you are, this post is for you. Here are some tips that I will like to share with you. When removing clutter,be scrupulous of the items and their purpose when deciding what to keep. Set small goals, so you'll feel less stressed to get things done all at once. Plan different days to clean each room. Discard or donate any old collection that you no longer treasure, books and magazines, broken equipment, and any other odds and ends for which you have no need. Start with an area of your home that needs the least attention, and leave the most important room until last. This will help you finish the project. Avoid going from room to room as you clean. Stay focused in one area until you are done. Teach children to be organized. Install low shelve...

I was watching the news last friday night about President Bush trying to help struggling homeowners across the nation. The package of changes that he outlined in a Rose Garden ceremony includes legislation proposed by Michigan's Sen. Debbie Stabenow that is supposed to help ease the income tax burden on homeowners who real estate analysis strike debt-ridden deals with their lenders.  I agree with President Bush (which is very rare) when he said that it is not the Government's job to bail out people who made bad decisions when it came time to buy a home they knew they couldn't afford. However, they have to help them. Why should someone lose something they have worked their entire life trying to keep only to lose it? It is very frustrating.  According to Data Realty Trac, a firm it said th...

I was reading a print out the other day when I went to this place trying to meet some potential home buyers. Anyway, this is what it said at the bottom of the print out. Did you know? Entering a post office box as your address on a credit application can pull your score down by 12 points. Also, providing a cell phone number can have the same effect. I didn't even know this. I thought that I share this with everyone because a lot of people who don't have good credit or no credit for that matter might want to improve their credit score so that they can maybe buy a car,get a business loan or even get a house but in the process can end up setting themselves back because of putting a post office box and a cell phone number on their credit application.
