Does Your Client Need New Flooring in Wilton, CT 06897? I closed on a transaction with a client in Wilton, CT 06897 last week at 52 Village Court, Wilton.    The clients were very pleased with the process, and needed to do some work on the home before they moved in.    They are a really sweet young couple, - starting a family in a new home.   How exciting! The clients wanted to refinish the floors, replace the carpeting, replace the kitchen, replace the shower in the master bath, paint everything, etc.   There were also some minor issues that needed some work, so they have contractor heaven going on over there....  all to be finished before she has her baby in the beginning of August.    The home has locks on almost every door (interior included,) and the previous owner had not left all...

This photo was taken last fall in November, when the Memorial was finished.    It is raining today, and so at the moment, I do not have a good picture of what it looks like today.    I will add one later.  I am sure it will be embellished with flags and flowers as they always do here for this holiday.   We have some very significant veterans here, who always try to participate in a big way in town politics and in this Memorial Day celebration.   David Close is our Grand Marshall this year.   He has always been very active in town affairs, admired by all in town for all he has done,  and remains so to this day.  A wonderful man. Bill Glass, a 25 year resident of Wilton, CT 06897, is an excellent example of that.  He will be keynote speaker today.  Working in town, Bill Glass has always ...

Selling Your Home in Wilton CT 06897  #8 You may want to read an earlier post first about How To Prepare Your Home For Sale Find a good Wilton Real Estate Agent or Realtor Interview the Realtors We have previously spoken of the process of finding a good Realtor.   After the declutter, organization, and neutralization of the home for sale comes staging.   Perhaps your home needs some paint, or plants to freshen it up. Now we will move into the next part of the process of selling your home in Wilton. The next step is to transform it into a product that will appeal to anyone.  It is now clean and organized and hopefully neutralized.  No wild colors or crazy decor.  The reason Realtors ask homeowners to remove their family pictures is to have buyers look at the rooms instead of the picture...

Attic archeology in Fairfield County CT. Finding the "Diamond in the Rough" If you are among those who have read my blog, you may get the impression that I think all our clients attics and basements teem with nothing but junk. Forgive me if I have given you the wrong impression. We take our duty to carefully sort through the personal possessions that have accumulated over a lifetime very seriously. We understand there may be "gold" in them thar trunks. The hard reality however, is that MOST objects we find in these situations are common mass-produced items and reproductions. Old may indeed be antique, but age alone does not a collectible make. If the home is filled with items from the Retail Rodeo (you know what I mean), keep what you like and donate the rest. Don't get me wrong, these...

Wilton CT Merchants Donated to the Relay for Life Survivors Dinner Giveaway!   Every year in mid-May, The Cancer Society helps the Wilton residents run a Relay For Life event at the High School track field.   The Wilton Merchants  so very generously gave  to the survivors on Friday night, the 13th of May, at the Relay For Life Survivors Dinner.  I am proud to say that almost every merchant in town gave this year to the Survivors' celebration dinner. Static in the Attic - Fairfield County, CT. Don't forget to check where the sun don't shine. When repairing and preparing your Fairfield County, CT. home for sale, remember the out of sight places in the home. The attic and crawl spaces may be all but forgotten to you, but potential buyers will want to survey all that is to be theirs. They will look behind the little doors. Don't give them an excuse to run screaming from the building. The out of sight, so it don't matter rule, works just fine for the year in and year out owner occupied residential set-up. Where else can you cram all that stuff when people come over to marvel at you neatly appointed, immaculate home? The attic and cave below the stairs have an insatiable appetite for those items. Toss it out? Pshaw. They took good hard e...

Grumman Hill Village -      is a beautiful community in South Wilton. CT 06897. The community consists of small independent homes, or condos, with some common land.    A wonderful spot for the very busy or those who want to get away from the property care issues.       One of the nicest extras here in these homes is that the garages are heated, so it is a real treat to go to work in the winter.  The square footage of these homes, or condos, varies from 1756 square feet to 1905 square feet.  This planned residential community named Grumman Hill Village is in South Wilton, just off of Route 7 for easy access to schools, easy commute, shops, train, etc.   It is beautifully landscaped, and has lawn irrigation for all of the homes.    Some of the homes, or condos,  are 3 bedrooms, and some a...

Estate settlement in Fairfield County CT. Key points to consider -  Part 4 My multi-part discussion here refers to the actual physical assets involved in the estate settlement process: the estate "clean out", clean up and preparation for sale. View part 3 here.  View part 2 here.  View part 1 here The painful back breaking labor, all those nights and weekends spent with your siblings and their loathsome spouses, the insect filled crawl spaces you never knew existed, the dust and mold...is all a distant memory now. You have laid bare the house beneath the "stuff".  Huzzahs to you. Take a day or two and reflect on your accomplishment. You have earned this moment of rest. Go buy yourself the be...

Fix Water Problems before Listing Your Home in Wilton CT! If you have evidence of water having invaded your home - fix the problem, and repair the look with drylock paint.  It will increase the barrier to help you keep out the water.  No home will sell when it has evidence of water seeping into the basement.  No one wants to buy a home that may have mold problems.  The expenses are unknown, and could be very high. The minute any of my buyers see water seepage or damage, they run from the house.  All in all, it costs the seller the sale, not just a reduced price. Echyanthus in bloom in Wilton CT One of my favorite bushes in the spring to bloom is the echyantus.   I love the simplicity of the little bells hanging there, waiting for the pollinating bees to come hither and do their work... The colors, ranging from a quiet tan to a deeper but still quiet reddish brown, is beautiful.   Always will rank as a favorite for me - also because it grows oh so slowly - just a little bit each year! Estate settlement in Fairfield County CT. Key points to consider -  Part 1 The settlement of an estate does not require an advanced degree in physics. It does however, take a good deal of time an physical labor input. My discussion here refers to the actual physical assets involved in the estate settlement process: the estate "clean out", clean up and preparation. The house, the "stuff" that fills every square foot inside and the grounds surrounding the home. View part 4 here. View part 3 here. View part 2 here. The first thing that must be done is: secure the property. You as executor or trustee may have no clue as to who may have been given keys to the home prior to the passing of its owner. You also may not have a clear picture of what exactly is in the house. If any item(s) went mis...
