Waterbury, CT's Relay For Life June 5-6, 2010   On June 5-6, from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m, students, businesses, and non-profit organizations from all over the Waterbury area participated in the annual Relay For Life fundraiser at Crosby High School's track field.   Participants in the Relay For Life walked along the track throughout the day, sang songs, and bought and sold goods in support of finding a cure for cancer. The American Cancer Society instituted a new fundraiser this year, along with their usual sale of luminaries, by selling torches that would be lit in memory of those who lost their lives to cancer. Both cancer victims and survivors are commemorated each year at the Relay for Life by luninaries, bags filled with sand and a  candle which is lit before sunset, lined along ...

Memorial Day: A Waterbury History   Memorial Day, originally known as Decoration Day, was a day established by former Civil War Union veterans to commemorate those who died in the struggle to save the Union. Started on May 30, 1868, Decoration Day was commemorated in the northern states until the turn of the century, and throughout the country thereafter. Starting Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 8 a.m., and ending on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at 8 a.m., the American Cancer Society will be having its annual Relay for Life at Crosby High School, located at 300 Pierpont Road in the city’s East End. Many teams from schools across the city, as well as volunteer organizations will be paricipating in the Relay for Life event to raise money to support cancer research and those who have fought the disease and won, as well as to remember those who lost their battle with cancer. It's inherent in human nature to try and get a deal on a purchase. This will always be the case in real estate as buyers will call the name on the yard sign believing they can get a better deal than if they use a buyer's agent to assist them. The belief is that if there is only one agent in the transaction then the seller will lower the price, as there is only one commission to pay. Although this does happen if the seller and agent have agreed to a lesser commission if the property gets sold by the listing agent, more often than not if it can cost the buyer much more.     The primary loyalty of the listing agent is to the seller. We're trying to get a young first time buyer couple to the closing table without adding to their down the road burdens. The problem is that what we would like to do isn't permissible. The inspection brought up some items that do not directly effect the ability to close on time or the quality of life the young couple will enjoy. What it does do, however, is cause them to postpone doing some repairs to the home, detached garage, etc until they can come up with the money. The conventional alternatives would be to request seller concessions, which raises the mortgage and has a cap of 6% with an FHA mortgage. The other alternative would be to get a 203K rehab loan, which is not much different to the overall mortgage than seller concessions. What we really need is a seller gift, or cash back...

It's Mother's Day, May 9, 2010 and so many of us will give her a kiss, maybe take her out to dinner, say a prayer for her if she's not here to be appreciated. Mother's are a special group of people, Their heart's are exceptionally large as they seldon remember the bad we've done They seldom forget to tell their friends about the good we've done They're constantly there to support and love us and when they're not around we feel the void. I remember years ago I got a special Mother's Day card for Mom. She opened it with love, and read it carefully, and then let me know ''I never did that!"  Happy Mother's Day Mom, I found that card again!
