Friday Flags Visible from the Highway in Waterbury CTThe center of Waterbury CT is traversed by 2 highways and caution is necessary as there are always distractions.As one rounds a curve in the highway there sits the oldest hospital in Waterbury, St Marrys hospital. Friday Flags A View from the Highway in ConnecticutWhile making a drive down a state highway, Route 8, I had an opportunity to take a photo of a flag that I don't normally see in full glory. The spot is close to the Waterbury/Naugatuck town line.This is a very large flag, sitting well above grade and it stands at the rear of a contractor's lot.  Friday Flags: A Respect for the Atrocity in Lewiston, MEI understand the reasons for flying a flag at 'half mast' , but am also saddened as I understand that it is a call for respect for someone that has passed.This past week, the flag at the East Mountain Golf course, as well as many others at public buildings were flown at 'half mast, to honor those that were brutally shot in Lewistown, Me.The period of respect is typically seven days, and it is still a small token to the families that are affected by the deaths.The proper way to display the flag, is to place in on its lanyards and move it to the top of the pole, and then bring it down to half position. Likewise, when taking down the flag before dusk, it has to be raised to the top again and then brought down to be removed.I am alway...

Friday Flags at 'The Mountain" in Waterbury CTMaybe a bit redundant, but at times it just shows differently. While coming down the 18th fairway at the East Mountain golf course, (The Mountain) in Waterbury last Sunday morning, services at the Abbey of clean Fairways, the clubhouse and flag just seemed to be calling to me.We were in the last official tournament of the season, President's Cup with blue team against the red team. 2023 Connecticut Sales Tax Free Week It's back to school time and with that is the shopping for back-to-school clothes and supplies.Highlights: This year will be Connecticut's 23rd Sales Tax Free Week.
