Prospect, CT - Pumpkin Festival, October 24, 2009     Driving on my way to school on last Saturday, I noticed rows upon rows of pumpkins lined outside of Prospect   Town Hall . On my way back home, I was able to stop by and see what it was all about.   Every year, the students in the Prospect elementary schools, from pre-K up to 6 th grade let their imaginations come to life in their decorations of pumpkins, which are then put on display for everyone passing by to see in the Prospect, CT Pumpkin Festival .   It was truly amazing to see what these youngsters came up with. From 5 to 9 pm today, with a rain date of Sunday, the contestants will be lined up on the stands, waiting impatiently as the judges make their way reviewing, judging, and just enjoying the contest. Today is the 6th Annual Pumpkin Festival.        The day the kids get to put their pumpkins on display for all to see their handywork! Fusco Field - Prospect CT Fusco Field, located on Talmadge Hill Road in Prospect, just off of Route 69, is the home of Prospect Little League Baseball.   Formally known as the Leonard J. Fusco Memorial Little League Complex, Fusco Field is comprised of several baseball fields on either side of a gravel parking lot, with two of the baseball fields elevated and surrounded by a chain link fence which hosts signs for all of Fusco Field’s patrons.   Little League baseball players, as well as the local school baseball teams and individual baseball enthusiasts can come and use Fusco Field for baseball practice.   Some people just come to enjoy a stroll through Fusco Field, or even just to sit and relax and enjoy a good book to read.   09/06/2009

Hotchkiss Field, Prospect, CT View Prospect, CT in a larger map Hotchkiss Field, in Prospect, CT, is located on New Haven Road (Route 69) at the intersection of New Haven Road and Scott Road. Right before you get to Hotchkiss Field's entrance is the Maria Hotchkiss House, one of the historical sites in the town of Prospect, CT. Hotchkiss Field boasts several large fields, usable for soccer and football, a basketball court, several walkways that encircle and cut through the park, and a large children's playground area. The picnic area at Hotchkiss Field is canopied by large pine trees. For skateboarding enthusiasts, there is a skateboard park at Hotchkiss field just beyond the picnic area that is accessible via a narrow driveway from the parking lot.   08/30/2009

Caplan Park, Prospect CT Caplan Park, in Prospect, CT, is located on New Haven Road (Route 69) about half a mile down from Canfield Park. Caplan Park has a large football field which is used by the towns schools as a filed for football practice as well as games. Canfield Park has a large tennis court, three baseball/softball diamonds and a large field for football or soccer playing, with bleachers provided for an enjoyable game-watching experience. This is a reminder that there will be a Town Meeting held on Wednesday, April 22nd at 7:00 pm at Community School.  The purpose of this meeting will be to present, discuss the rather austere Town Budget.  As mentioned earlier, it's bottom line of about $6,571,000 is about $200,000 less than last year, reflecting a full 3% reduction.   The Town Meeting format is reflective of our strong New England tradition where everyone present has a chance to comment, and even to request changes to individual line items; something that cannot be done if it were put to a 'machine vote'.    We hope to see you Wednesday, and feel free to bring along family and friends. 04/21/2009
