If you have ever gone into a lumber yard you may have seen people picking up framing lumber and trying to sight edge them looking for curvature, or more precisely lack of curvature. This is in the belief that when they use the lumber, there will be less likelihood that the wood will turn when used and not have nails popping and damaging a finished product. Experienced builders will opt for kiln dried lumber, which has already had the majority of moisture removed by 'baking' the wood slowly at controlled temperatures. While driving home today, I noticed a bit of curvature that I never noticed before. This year is a celebration of the 25th year!     I can say I have never missed one, and can remember back to when it started on the green in 1985 with about 50 cars and a hotdog cart! Although today is Flag Day, it is not a legal holiday. In our area there will be very few parades, but at the very least the flag will wave proudly on all state and municipal buildings, like ours, many a residential property. Falg Day is a day of recognition of the adoption of the Flag of the united States by the Second Continental Congress back in 1777. In 1916, Pres. Woodrow Wilson proclaimed June 14 as the official Flag Day and in 1949 Congress established the official Flag Day.
