I was reading the newspaper this morning and the three mayoral candidates answered questions at a Chamber of Commerce sponsored debate about their candidacies. The central issue again was Renaissance Place. Democrat Curt Bosco was criticized for his change of position since supporting the project in 2005. As I mentioned previously Bosco does not support the project at present but has vowed to support the project if the voters approve it at referendum. This position drew criticism from republican Mike Bronko who asked how Bosco could change his position if he doesn't support the project now. Petitioning candidate Peter Jurzynski indicated that he has never supported the project and lauded his consistency. I notice there is a lot of activity around town by those on both sides of the issue...

On May 7, 2007 Naugatuck Connecticut will be holding their municipal election. This happens every two years with a certain degree of fanfare and the usual discussions of school budgets, tax increases, and the typical questions that arise in most elections of this type. The past few years have featured squabbles between the party endorsed candidates and the petitioning candidate, Peter Jurzynski.This year Peter Jurzynski is again a petitioning candidate but another couple of monkey wrenches have been thrown into the fray. First, the incumbent, Republican Ron San Angelo is not running for re-election, replaced at the last moment by a newcomer Mike Bronko.
