25th Annual Festival of Silver Lights Coming to Hubbard Park Meriden’s Hubbard Park is gearing up for its 25th annual Festival of Silver Lights, and getting some new decorations for the event as well. Before the lights go on this year, some new animal displays will go up and a brand new 14 foot globe will be installed to replace the old one which was rusting away. With over 300 displays using between 150,000 and 200,000 lights, this annual event is one of the most anticipated holiday happenings in the area. There's Nothing More Graceful than Swans on a Lake Hanover Lake is in the South Meriden CT area. As I was driving back from a showing, I noticed large white objects just bobbing along on the lake''s surface. I stopped at a light and it allowed me time to get a closer look. I stopped at the edge of the lake, and there were cars of people throwing food out for the birds, and no signs requesting that they not do so, so the birds were not native to the lake, but having shelter and food, see no reason to leave. There were also some mallards enjoying the free lunch as well. The swans just swam along with no visible effort. Occasionally they would dive over to catch something that must have looked tasty. Meriden's Hubbard Park Hosts 35th Annual Daffodil Festival Over 600,000 daffodils. Over 100,000 attendees. Two days. One stupendous event! Meriden CT Market Update for December 2012   December home sales had a strong showing in Meriden, finishing the year withthe third highest sales totals for 2012. Single family sales were up by 44%, while condo sales slid back slightly to 9 units sold. December's numbers were 32% better than December of 2011, and 54% better than December of 2010. In fact, the last six months of 2012 turned out to be the best run in the real estate market in Meriden in the past two years.
