Cost Benefits of Green Building Published Report. The World Green Building Council recently published a 124 page report on “The Business Case for Green Building” detailing the cost benefits of building built to sustainable standards like LEED and Energy Star. Green Building do not need to cost more than non-green buildings as building practices and materials are becoming more mainstream. Various studies from between 2000 to 2012 show that actual cost premiums can range from zero to 12.5% with the higher prices directly relating to a higher standard of green features. Studies also show that certified green buildings both commercial and residential can command higher prices up to 30% more. Greenwich, Ct is following the real estate market trend of lower Fairfield County in that more single family dwellings have sold in 2012 to that of 2011 but with the average price down just a little. Happy Independence Month from Greenwich Connecticut real estate! As the weather is warming, so is the real estate market.  Let's take a look.... In the month of June a total of 71 single family homes sold in Greenwich Connecticut. In this playground of the affluent the majority of homes sold for less than $3,000,000.  The least expensive home was a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom Colonial in Byram that was originally listed at $455,000.  The final sales price? $335,000.  It was a short sale, where the owners sold the property for less than was owed to the lender. The most expensive home sold was an Old Greenwich waterfront compound having 6 bedrooms, 6 full bathrooms and 4 powder rooms.
