The 2014 Berlin Fair In Connecticut is going on this weekend, and so far the weather has been cooperating.  The Berlin Fair is much smaller than the Durham Fair which was held last weekend, but it is a great little Fair. My wife and I went last year, and the Fair was packed.  All the parking lots were full, and as you can see from the picture to the right the line for tickets to get in was very long.  But it did not matter because once we were in we had a blast.  There was lots to do and see at the Berlin Fair In Connecticut.  Some of the things at the Fair were: Crafts Farm Equipment Farm Animals Games Rides Go Carts Entertainment Tractor Pulls Food We got to see most everything but the Tractor Pulls, they were over by the time we got there.  My wife loves to see all the Quilts, and...

Poking and snooping through houses, all in the course of my job, I happen upon some interesting stuff from time to time. No, not the wacky "fixes" or installs by Harry homeowner or his infamous Uncle Bob. There is plenty of that Yankee ingenuity to be discovered on most of the houses I visit. I speak of gizmos and gadgets of days gone by. Once in a great while, or more often than I care to admit, I can remember seeing the particular item from my younger days.   The other day inspecting a one owner house built in  1950, I spied a device I actually remember my mom having in our house. Funny thing was my client, who is older than I, and the agent, same age, didn't recognize this old gadget for what it is. This was a portable version of a common item every house had at one time. Do you know...

Last Saturday night my wife and I had the pleasure to go see a Junior High School performance of The Wizard Of Oz At Catherine M. McGee Middle School, In Berlin, CT.  One of the performers was Theo Reed, who played two of the major characters "Tinman and Hickory".  The performance by all the kids was unbelievably well done, but what made it extra special was watching Theo, and the excellent job that he did. My wife and I do not have any grand kids yet, so the Reed children are like our adopted grand kids. We have watched Theo grow up, and are very proud of the young man that he is becoming. This is the time of the of the year that many of the High Schools and Junior High Schools are having performances of Broadway Plays like The Wizard of Oz.  If you have not had a chance to see a pe...

Recently my wife and I had the pleasure to go see a Junior High School performance of Beauty & The Beast at Catherine M. McGee Middle School, in Berlin, CT.  One of the performers was Theo Reed, who played one of the major characters "Clogsworth" (the clock).  The performance by all the kids was unbelievably well done, but what made it extra special was watching Theo, and the excellent job that he did. My wife and I do not have any grand kids yet, so the Reed children are like our adopted grand kids. If your credit score is below 550 and you are having a hard time getting financed for anything, then you might want to consider credit repair. There are two ways to do credit repair. You can do it yourself, which isn't difficult but can be time consuming and frustrating (especially if you don’t what you’re doing) or you can pay a credit repair agency to do it for you (which can be expensive if you don’t know what to look for). The first step in any type of credit repair is getting a copy of your credit report. Once a year you can request a free copy of your credit report from the three credit bureaus, TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax. When you have the credit report you need to look carefully at each account.  How credit repair works is, any entries on your credit report that you think...

Dogs need pampering too.  Thinking of moving to Berlin Connecticut, or a near by town, and have a dog?  Don't worry about your pet adjusting to their new surroundings... they will adjust quickly.. and will love you for taking them to the Dirty Dog. I have recently acquired a new pet.. a West Highland Terrier, her name is Maggie.  Yes, she is the one that my mom owned.  She realized that she is not able to take care of her the way she wants... LONG story. So, in a hurry I went out and got all the supplies for a new 8 month old puppy. Seeing that she looked dingy.. not real white, I took her to get bathed and get her nails clipped.  Normally I would do this myself, but with my arm still out of commission, I thought it would be better to have her treated professionally.  A day at the "dogg...

If you are looking for something to do this weekend, and fairs are what you are looking for, then I have the fair for you.  The Berlin Fair in Berlin, CT is running from Friday, October 3rd to Sunday, October 5th.  The Berlin Lions Club has been sponsoring this since 1949.  This fair always takes place during the first Sunday in October.  Why you ask?  It marks the end the end of Connecticut's Agricultural Fair Season.  There is always something new, and if you haven't gone, why not go this year?  The food vendors are provided by local churches and the Lions Club.  Some of the choices are hot dogs, hamburgers, fried dough and pulled pork.  Hmm.. I love pulled pork. There are so many activities going on.  Everything from tractor pulls, to Dairy cattle juding, marching bands to frog jumpi...
