The Southern Delivery System (www.sdswater.org) is a project that will install a 66-inch diameter, 50-mile pipeline that will carry water from Lake Pueblo up to El Paso County.  The pipeline route will cross through Pueblo West, up through Walker Ranch, to Colorado Springs.   Several Pueblo West homes that are in the direct path of the pipeline route are being purchased outright by Colorado Springs Utilities.  Other Pueblo West property owners are being paid for easements across their property.   For all you property owners in the path of the Southern Delivery System, you should have already received a letter from Colorado Springs Utilities about paying for an easement on your property. I've been contacted by property owners about whether their property will be devalued, how the easemen...

After much thought I've decided to step away from Green Drinks Pueblo Style. I started the group in Dec of 2006 and we've been ebbing and flowing ever since. The presentations have been great, my core group has been supportive and we've had a good time at each meeting. But I've not been able to find somebody to help me with the group or even take it over, I'm burnt out. So Green Drinks Pueblo Style is up for adoption. Please visit www.greendrinks.org click on Pueblo for more details or feel free to contact me if you are interested in adopting this group.

If you live in Pueblo but haven't been to Pueblo's Rosemount Museum, you must pay a visit!  This fabulous mansion, completed in 1893 for John and Margaret Thatcher, gives a glimpse of what it was like to live in the Victorian Age.  The home still has original furnishings and art work.  From an architectural standpoint, the woodwork (for doors, moldings, ceilings, etc.) is just magnificent with a different type of wood in each room.  All of the fireplaces are uniquely different.  Many of the ceilings are hand painted with gold leaf accents.  One of the more interesting architectural features of the home is the use of interior windows for "borrowed light".  In several rooms, you can see a window high up an interior wall across from a window on an exterior wall allowing outside light to pa...

Recently I attended a meeting just for Realtors held by Black Hills Energy in Pueblo. Although the attendance was low the information was fabulous! The people holding the class: Gene Mantei, Kevin Pratt, Jill Linck and Ronda Veditti (from a distance) gave us a wealth of information. One of the most surprising pieces of information that came out of this meeting was: Hawaii, California and Pueblo install the most photovoltaic arrays per capita in the country! I was so amazed I had them repeat this 3 times. Apparently, this was one of the factors for Vectra to move one of their manufacturing facilities to Pueblo. We also learned about the various rebates afforded to home owners and general contractors if they build with energy saving appliances. (Residential new Construction Program) And w...
