Lessons Learned: Blue CountertopsWhen you buy a new construction home you get to pick the cabinets, flooring, paint color, finishes, fixtures. You can go with the builder basics to keep costs down, or you can choose upgrades. All the decisions can be overwhelming. On the other hand, it can be a lot of fun "customizing" all of these things to make the house you are buying in to your HOME.When we bought our first new construction home (now we are experienced, we've done this twice), we didn't do very many upgrades. We went very basic. Oak cabinets. Beige carpeting (with an upgraded pad). Vinyl flooring in the kitchen and bathrooms. White walls, doors and trim. Brass fixtures. (It was the 80s.)We didn't upgrade the countertops, we went with the laminate that was offered, but we picked out ...

We Make A Great TeamI've been a Realtor for 13 years. I started with a big box company and it was a great place to get my feet wet. They were very supportive of new agents and their major strength was education. After 8 years, I moved to a small boutique company. It was a big change and one that didn't really work out. It lasted 2 years and then I made my final move to a mid-size, Colorado based company. I've been with Cherry Creek Properties for 3 years.During all the time, one thing remained constant and it's the one thing that I LOVE about my job. Rich, my husband was licensed 2 years before me. When I finally got my license (that's a story for another day), he needed help. Business was growing and it was time for a "partner". We had worked together in the past so we knew it would wo...

The Opportunity to Serve OthersWhen I read about Belinda Spillman's November AR contest, I didn't know what to write about. Like many of you, I do things throughout the year, not just at the holidays. Also, I'm not really looking for "credit" for these things. When I finally made the decision about my "topic" I ran out of time! The contest ended on Wednesday and I was busy with a new listing. So here I am. I'm still writing my post because I started it and I want to finish it!     A few years ago, Rich and I decided we wanted to find a way to uniquely support and serve the local Senior Center. The Parker Senior Center serves lunch daily, Monday through Friday. Once a month, they have their birthday/anniversary lunch. Anyone who has a birthday or wedding anniversary in that month gets a f...

What did you do today? I moved the library! About a month ago, Rich and I registered to be part of the bookworm. What's that you ask? I long line of humans (the library guestimated about 1200 people registered) to pass books from the old library to the new library (a little bit less than a mile apart). At 10:00 am, we started passing 21 books. Why 21? To represent the age of the old library which opened in 1995. Among the books were: Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss, Agatha Christie's Miss Marple, The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins and The Big Blue Thing on the Hill by Yuval Zommer (a children's book). How did they pick the books? They asked for suggestions from the library's patrons. We were so excited to be part of history! We love living in Parker and this is part of our growth. Ca...
