Colorado agents... can you relate??? My recent listings have been naked since they've gone on the market - that is - NO SIGN! With our lovely drought (it HAS been a beautiful summer!), yards are as hard as concrete and no amount of pounding, jumping or swearing is gonna get that Red, White and Blue sign in the ground more than a half an inch. But now... after our weekend monsoon... Yippeeeeee! My listings are now properly attired!!!!

So you have just moved to Denver and you heard everyone and their brother BRAG about the 300+ days of sunshine.  And now its been raining since Thursday night.  Personally I am enjoying it, but I understand that going into day 3 and 4 it can get a little antsy. Well, it sounds like we have one more day of this to get through - so here are some ideas for you to enjoy the mile hi city indoors.  You can save this list for the snowy months that will come before you know it. Denver Museum of Nature and Science - This goes first as its one of my own family's favorites to revisit time and time again.  My son's favorite area at the moment is the Mummy Room.  Denver, Colorado Bowling at Brunswick Zone - There are a few locations in the area - but our favorite is in Lone Tree.  If you catch the t...

As you can see in the graph above home values in the University Hills area have been climbing steadily over the last 3 years over the median home prices in Denver as whole.  I predict this area to keep growing and developing into one of Denver's premier neighborhoods and for home values to increase in the U hills area over the Denver market as a whole. Designed by Donald Ross in 1926, and voted one of the best public facilities in the nation, Wellshire Golf Club strives to maintain that reputation. As announced in various sources this morning, Vestas American Wind Technology, Inc. will be building 2 factories in Brighton and bringing many new jobs to Colorado - 1350 of them.  Vestas already has a plain Windsor and has chosen Brighton partly because of its proximity to the existing plant.   The announcement furthers the renawable energy business in Colorado that continues to grow here. Now Brighton certainly isn't in my regular area that I help homeowners in the Denver area, I typically service the South Metro Denver real estate market.  But I wanted to post about this anyway -  this is a very note worth announcement, as more new jobs in Denver is just good news all around. Here is a video of Governor Ritter's Press Conference from this morning, from the Denver Post.   Here are few...

With all the "sky is falling" talk we here every day, I thought I'd share a few of the postives we are experiencing her in Colorado. Windmill-blade firm to bring 650 jobs to Brighton: Brighton's City Council scored a big victory on 7/22 in its quest to bring primary jobs to the city: Vestas Blades America is bringing 650 of those jobs - and potentially up to 1,500 - with a manufacturing plant. (The Daily Post) Fort Collins named the Second - Best Place to live in the USA: Money magazine named Fort Collins the second-best place to live in America. Highlands Ranch also came in 12 th out of the top 100 small cities nationwide as rated by Money. This is great news for Colorado - and it follows on the heels of last week's ranking by CNBC of Colorado as one of the Top Five Best States to do B...

Living in Denver - American Presidential Experience Comes To Town Unless you have been living under a rock somewhere, you know that Denver is about to be in the national spotlight as the DNC comes to town.   And even in the suburbs, the impact will be felt as so many hotels are booked solid all over and many are welcoming guests into their homes for the week.  I personally will be working my schedule to not touch I25 from about 2pm on each day. But regardless of your personal interest level in the DNC - there are many non-partisan events that are coming up for all to enjoy. One of them looks really great - and it will be right at Invesco Field for the week.  It is called the American Presidential Experience and is a non-partisan traveling exhibit documenting the presidency of the Uni...

Hello Active rain this is my first post :) This post aims at helping photographers and estate agents take better quality property snaps. A good photograph can say a thousands words and when taken right will make a dramatic increase in home buyer interest. Majority of home sales originate from online sources. This means that home buyers are searching and browsing real estate websites in search of that dream home. Ensuring your photos shine makes all the difference. Taking pictures from a not so great camera creates a picture thats not so great. New photographers often think that there is a special skill or art involved in taking top quality snaps. It's wrong to think that. A little knowledge is required but almost all great photos are taken with great cameras. For best results invest in ...

Denver, the host of this year’s Democratic National Convention, is gearing up and gussying up. We’re happy to have so many visitors to our city. I met my husband for lunch on Friday, and already the 16th Street Mall was buzzing. People were everywhere, and judging from the name badges hanging around their necks, many were from out of town. Another tell tale sign that we had strangers in our midst were the maps clutched in hands for reference. A fun way to pass some time in the downtown area is to take Tom Noel’s walking tour of the area. Dr. Noel is one of Denver’s prominent historians and he has published many books on the history of the west, and Colorado in particular. His walking tour takes you from The Colorado History Museum, past the State Capitol and The Brown Palace Hotel. You...

the Mike Nichols Memorial Bannock St. Criterion Bike Race was Sunday August 3rd in the Golden Triangle. The bicycle racers speed Thur the neighborhood down Bannock Street to 12th past The Balustrade Lofts, Century Lofts than down Delaware street past the New 12th and Delaware Town-homes up 11th past The Prado Condos, Trieste Condos and Cadillac Lofts. The weather really cooled off for this race.  The Front Range Cycle Club runs this event. They are grateful to the neighborhood for support and cooperation, and have been assisting our Litter League effort once a month -making a big difference!

Is real estate struggling? Is there a storm? Are we riding it, or riding it out? Realtors I talk to are: optimistic, working harder than ever, looking forward to the future, getting out of the business, all of the above. Jim Morrison sang, “Riders of the Storm” but sometimes when I sing along, I change up the words. Denver Real Estate is faring well as compared with much of the U.S., and while we still struggle in some segments of the market, others are very strong. Buyers are the beneficiaries of this perfect storm. Rates are low, a positive in most buyers’ minds, and home prices have flattened enough to make any purchase a bargain or a great investment. But in the words of Yogi Berra, “You’ve got to be very careful if you don’t know where you’re going, because you might not get ther...

As I recently wrote when summing up many of the Denver area water parks, we were making our annual visit to Water World.  We try to go once a year and the kids always have such a blast.  I try to take a day off during the week to go, it seems the crowds are a bit more manageable and I do work many weekends selling Denver Real Estate, so my kids enjoy having a week day with dad. We actually had great weather although it did cloud up just a bit as we were getting ready to leave and there were a few sprinkles on the way home.  But all in all a great day.  I had the camera in the locker until the end those these few shots are all a bit cloudy. As always, my kids were a bit more adventurous than the year before, which I fully appreciate being able to share that with them and be a bit of a ki...

A revitalization has been occurring in various historic Denver neighborhoods, particularly in the general Highlands (Denver NW) and Washington Park areas.  This revitalization has included an increasing number of property scrapes.  On the scraped lots, new homes are being built, in styles including Prairie, Craftsman, and Modern.  These historic neighborhoods, in the past, have been comprised primarily of bungalow's, craftman style homes and Victorian style homes, so the homes of modern design are new to the landscape.  Many of the local residents would like to preserve the architectural integrity of the neighborhoods and do not appreciate the new development, and in particular, the homes of modern design.  Others feel that the new development, including the homes of modern design, add ...
