Breckenridge, Colorado hosts the 18th annual International Snow Sculpture Championships. Sixteen teams from nine countries have 65 total hours to create these amazing, but temporary, works of art. Temporary because they melt. (Actually, they'll be bulldozed long before they have a chance to melt, but the promo piece for the event describes it as "an art gallery that melts.") Day 2, Wednesday morning, January 23, 2008. See my earlier post showing the pre-contest setup. They started with 10x10x12 foot blocks of snow on Tuesday. By day 2, some teams have progressed more than others. Here is Team China's sculpture so far: This guy is really getting into it...  Team Mexico shows off their plans to some visiting preschoolers:Team Lithuania has the snappiest jackets...  The Lithuanians have thei...

The 18th annual Breckenridge International Snow Sculpture Championships begin on Tuesday, January 22, 2008.Teams from nine countries will compete. They get 65 hours to carve a 10'x10'x12' block of snow into a beautiful work of art. Carving starts Tuesday, goes all day Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and then all night on Friday night, ending at 10am Saturday.  These blocks of snow were built over several days last week. Local residents helped stomp the snow into wood forms, which are then removed. Sixteen teams from none countries will compete. This is a lonely block on the Blue River Plaza on Main Street, a short walk from where the rest of the blocks are. I don't yet know who will carve this one.

RockResorts comes to Breckenridge! Started by the Rockefeller family years ago, RockResorts is the leading brand in properties that are uniquely defined by their location. Unlike the consistent sameness of other luxury resorts, each RockResort really looks and feels like it belongs where it is. Vail Resorts acquired RockResorts recently, and they have taken the huge step of introducing this unheard-of level of luxury to Breckenridge. This morning I attended a Realtor preview presentation put on by Vail Resorts Development Co. They are starting to accept pre-construction reservations for One Ski Hill Place, a new RockResort at the base of Peak 8. This is already the main base area at Breckenridge Ski resort, and One Ski Hill Place will be the premier place to own slopeside in Breck.A bowl...

Breckenridge's Shock Hill Lodge & Spa, located at the midway station of the new BreckConnect Gondola, offered 15 units ranging from $1.1 million to $2.75 million (one to three bedroom units), which sold out in 10 minutes when they went on sale.  The developer then decided to release the 15 units in phase two, which sold out be the end of the day.  Units in phases three through five will be released at an undetermined later date.As the luxury trend continues, people are looking for smaller, more high-end homes.  People are spending more per square foot on their homes, because they want high-end appliances and finishing touches. Some of the land, such as Shock Hill, simply demands high-end homes, with its stunning views.  The project will include a private spa for owners as well as concier...

Breckenridge Real Estate Catches Heisman Eyes  Breckenridge, Colorado  (November 16, 2007) -  Heisman trophy winner and former pro running back Eddie George, after being tackled for years in the NFL, has decided it's time to tackle the slopes and possibly real estate at Breckenridge Ski Resort. George was in Denver on Thursday to tape FSN PRO FOOTBALL PREVIEW and Thursday night George, family and friends arrived at Alpine Majesty Ski Haus on Peak 7, a luxury home currently listed in the MLS for $2,990,000. Eddie plans on doing a little skiing, but being a successful businessman, he is always interested in evaluating local real estate markets.  "Breckenridge offers all the amenities of Vail and Aspen, but at a much more affordable price. Luxury was the missing element." stated George. "N...

How awesome!  Breckenridge Ski Resort received 6 inches of new snow from last night's storm.  This is great news.  Especially after the news that Beaver Creek Ski Resort will be moving back their opening day until Friday, after Thanksgiving.  We just went into town and the streets are busy, as well as the parking lot for skiing.  Everyone is just loving it.  We ate at the Empire Burger restaurant which, in my opinion offers some of the best burgers and fries in the county.   They also serve Buffalo if you're in the mood.  Here are 2 photos we just took to boast about our snow fall.  Cheers!

The Water House on Main Street is another spectacular condo development by Vail Resorts taking place in the heart of Breckenridge.  This development is located on the south end on Main Street, directly between Hyatt at Main Street Station and The Marriott’s Hotel at Breckenridge.  The development will be 55-units with one, two, and three bedroom condos available. The Water House on Main Street is centrally located in the town and very close to the Peak 9 Quicksilver Super chair.  This condo development is located so well in Breckenridge, many owners will not need to move their car for the entire stay in Breckenridge.  The Main Street Station is built around the Maggie Pond, which offers ice-skating in the winter and paddleboats in the summer, hence the Water House.  Reservations will be...
