When you have an open house, do you advertise it in the Multiple Listing Service?  This is an area that many realtors miss.  Not only can you advertise your open house, but you can say something special about the home or the price or value.  If you are using any of the new realtor icons on your phone they have a button which lists open houses in the area and it works off of a GPS.  Next time you have an open house be sure you take advantage of this free service. If you are going to spend time at the open house you might as well get as many people as possible.  Increase your chances of selling the home and make the seller happy.

Have you evey scheduled an Open House only to arrive at your destination and find that the street is completely torn up, the sides of the road are full of mud, and the entrance to the street has no pavement and is full of gravel and dirt? Well that's what happened to me recently.  The first hurdle was where to put the signs, since there was NO PLACE to put them at the street corner itself.  After studying the situation, I realized I could put them up on street signs and poles on the opposite side of the street with the help of elastic bungie cords.  I put two signs up that I hoped would be visible to prospective visitors. I was pleasantly surprised when during a three hour period, ten parties stopped to view my beautiful single story listing.  Most people did comment on the road conditi...

City of Villa Park February 1, 2011 Villa Park E-Net   The E-Net has a new look! What do you think of the E-Net's new look?   The City routinely produces an Electronic Network (E-Net) on that is distributed via email to more than 750 email addresses that have signed up to receive the publication.  E-Nets typically contain links to various City and community services, articles on upcoming events and community activities, as well as, information on road closures, encroachments, and building permits.    But, the E-Net is only one example of communication the City provides.  In addition to the E-Net, residents can visit the City's website for downloadable copies of City publications, applications, the City's Municipal Code, Design Review Ordinances, Minutes and Agendas for City Council and...

The Big one is coming!          Just as I was feeling all gushy and comfortable I attended the Thursday Rotary Meeting and the speaker was from the Southern California Earthquake center and told us that we have heard for years that the big one is coming. Well, guess what it is coming. It has been 16 years since the last major earthquake hit Southern California.  We are well overdue for another shaker.  In our meeting she told us what we needed to do to prepare for this when it comes.  The most important things we need are water, food and flashlights.  In the event of a large earthquake our water will be shut off, the electricity will be off and the gas.  We will be needing one gallon of water per day per person. We will need water to flush our toilets, and we will be needing food for at...
