Throwback Thursday: The Yellow Brick Road  I was touring some homes for sale for clients way back in December 2014 in Valley Center, a rural community about 30 miles inland from my home in Carlsbad, and stumbled across The Yellow Brick Road, an area I was not at all familar with.  Yes, there IS a a street by that name, along with Dorothy Lane, Wizard Way, Ozland Avenue, Emerald City Drive, and perhaps others I missed.  I don't personally know the history of the area but there is an interesting story on Hidden San Diego about the producer of the original silent film version of The Wizard of Oz who lived in the area, along with the Tin Man who had a ranch there but reportedly lost it in the Cedar Fire in 2003. No doubt if you poke around this rural neighborhood you will find all sorts of ...

The Yellow Brick Road  What do YOU immediately think of when you hear "The Yellow Brick Road?" I bet I can guess. And it's probably not The Yellow Brick Road in Valley Center CA. There IS a yellow brick road (it's not yellow OR brick), and it runs into Ozland Avenue. There's also Dorothy Lane, Wizard Way, and Emerald City Drive. I didn't see Wicked Witch Way or Toto Court but perhaps I was too enamored with the homes I was showing at the time.

Keys Creek Lavender Farm ~ Valley Center, CA ~ We visited the Keys Creek Lavender Farm in Valley Center back in 2010 when they had one of their rare public open houses. The setting is spectacular, surrounded by mountains, open space and other farms, and the lavender was in full bloom. The Farm offers a bunch of different lavender products - honey, tea, jams, baked goods and more. During their open house they have food available, entertainment, craft making and more. If you are ever in the area or want to spend a little time n the country, the Keys Creek Lavender Farm is a terrific outing. Ask to meet Alicia Wolff, the owner who hails from Australia.  Currently, the farm is open from 10 - 3 Wednesday through Sunday, with tours by reservation on Saturdays and Sundays. Keys Creek Lavender ...

I was like Whoa! Who ever thought that you'd find such a killer gated community upon entering Valley Center? Somehow I was looking for gated homes in the greater North County area, and normally I wouldn't include Valley Center Real Estate in my search, but in this case I did. Boy am I glad that I streched the search up to Valley Center this time because know I can say I am familiar with VALLEY VIEW RANCH Gated Homes in Valley Center. Valley View Ranch is the very first community upon entering Valley Center from Escondido at Eureka Springs. Almost directly across from Valley View Ranch is another popular gated community ,called Woods Valley. The big difference between the two is that Woods Valley is more of a typical Subdivision ( not for Valley Center)  where homes are built close toget...

The Evolution of Factory Built Housing The "FACTORY BUILT HOME" has no doubt come a long way in almost 100 years. It all started in the 1920s whence "Trailers", "Travel Trailers", "Trailer Coaches" were built primarily for the American traveler who desired having a real bed and a place to sleep at a campsite instead of having to camp out in a sleeping bag and a tent.     Additionally, during Word War II, trailers were used as temporary homes for factory workers who came from all over America for the many job opportunities that were created as a result of the war.  When veterans returned home after the war they found it quite difficult to find affordable housing. Thus the Factory Built Housing Industry  began building homes that were large enough to accommodate these veterans and their f...

Search For Valley Center Homes and Ranches and Information about Valley Center, California Valley Center, located in North San Diego County, is popular for having affluent custom homes, and ranches.  Valley Center is also known for having agricultural crops and orchards. There are many equestrian enthusiasts in Valley Center as well.  Many properties in Valley Center have views of lush and green Pauma Valley, and picturesque mountain views of Mt. Palomar.  Originally, Valley Center, California, had a large population of massive orchards with very few residential dwellings.  Over the years and more recently, some of the agricultural land has been designated to rural residential for housing development.  The 2 acre minimums have slowed growth in Valley Center, and attracted homeowners see...

Shopping in Valley Center, CA Valley Center is a relatively small unincorporated town in the North County region of San Diego.  For years, residents of Valley Center have had a limited selection of places for grocery shopping and as well as finding other services.  In fact, for many of the simple things residents wanted to purchase they would need to travel down the hill into place like Escondido or even Temecula.  This can be quite an inconvenient thing to have to do, and can cause many prospective buyers of real estate to look elsewhere for their home purchases.  Growth In recent years however, Valley Center has begun to see some significant development and growth.  Why?  CASINOS!  Valley Center, and it's neighbor regions of Pauma Valley, Rincoln, San Pasqual reservation, and Pala, is...

I recently took a listing in a community in Valley Center, CA by the name of Sky Ridge Estates.  I was very encouraged to see that this community is well developed, centrally located, and contains parcels of land that are 2+ acres which allow for horses....with NO HOA fees of Mello-Roos!!!  Finding communities like this can be a challenge, so for anyone who has ever wanted to have a beautiful home with some room to breath without having to pay the, at times, outrageous costs of an HOA, look no further!

Valley Center is a unique town.  In San Diego county it's not too difficult to find metro areas or beach cities.  In fact, I believe when most people think of San Diego county they automatically think of the beach.  Makes sense, right?  But what gets overlooked sometimes are the rural areas of the county... places such as Valley Center.  Valley Center is a small community on the eastern outskirts of Escondido.  The community has a quaint, small town feel, which is hard to come by these days.  There are a wide variety of homes, many with several acres of land attached to them.  It is not uncommon to see residents of the community walking or jogging the bike paths. or even riding their horses.  Looking for a small town feel, then I suggest taking a look at what kind of properties are avai...

Valley Center, California is celebrating it's Sesquicentennial (150 years) in 2012. So where is Valley Center? Well it's in the far Northeast corner of California's best county; San Diego. It's locally famous for being residence toAgnes White after she retired from celebrity in the late 1930's. Who's Agnes White? Well folks, she's aka Betty Crocker, you know the cookbooks, radio shows and ready made-cake mixes, etc.I don't vist Valley Center much and it's not even an area I serve directly, I leave that to one of my FAB 4 Realtor partners, but it's gone from a sleepy little "country-town" to a growing suburben & agricultural community. If you enjoy oranges, lemons, avacados or llamas, yes llamas, head to Valley Center!
