My Grandmother Bruno is from England and would often speak of high tea with her girlfriends when she was a teenager. I 've always imagined my beautiful grandma dressed up with her lipstick and her hair all done sipping tea with her friends. How fun I would always think to myself! Well today I was fortunate enough to experience sipping on tea with friends just like my grandmother. I went to the Victorian Rose where they serve Tea and organic coffee with fresh homemade scones, muffins, croissants, quiche, and a wonderful pecan cinnamon roll. Unbelievable! Everything was so yummy and fresh. I spoke with Kathleen the owner and she informed me that everything is made from scratch. She also uses organic products when ever she is able. The table were set up with lovely linens, candles, flower...

Are you moving to Tehachapi with your family and not sure where to meet new people? I would like to suggest to you a wonderful place to start called the Tehachapi Playgroup. The cost is only $10.00 a year and the program is through the Tehachapi Recreation and Parks. The playgroup meets every Wednesday from 10 am to 12 pm. They meet at the scout hut during the winter or a local park during the summer. Your children will be involved with creative play, craft projects, local field trips, and parties.  I have a personal experience with the Tehachapi Playgroup and had a wonderful time. My friend introduced me to it over 3 years ago I'm no longer involved because I have gone back to work. I made wonderful long lasting friendships as well as my children. We still get are children together whe...

It might have been a rainy day on the outside but inside Liberty Tax Service was bright and cheery. On Wednesday January 20, 2008 was the grand opening for Liberty Tax Service. The owner Brian Drucker and his very friendly staff were greeting members from the Tehachapi Chamber of Commerce for their Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting. Brian proudly told the crowd that customer service and extensive training sets his team apart from other tax company's. Brian has been seen delivering pizza around town with Uncle Sam and the statue of liberty. If you would like to meet Brian and his wonderful staff for your tax needs call 661-822-0660. They also accept walk-ins you may visit them at 798 Tucker Road in the Loop Center.

About an hour ago I finished up helping Michelle Vance and the Main Street crew pass out wine and chocolate. It made me really amped about this event not only because I love Valentines but Michelle did an outstanding job of organizing it. All of the businesses were decorated and full of excitement. The presentation looks really nice with the wine and chocolates displayed on pretty white tray's. There are so many good wines and the truffles are unbelievable there is also something for the non drinkers. Tehachapi Area Association of Realtors will have sparkling cider to serve along with there yummy truffle. It's hard to believe that this is it's first year and has already sold 200 tickets and still counting. If you haven't bought a ticket for yourself and a loved one you better hurry up b...

One of the great things about living in a town with 4 seasons is we get to have an occasional snow day. I have two little boy's that love this time of year when it snows. We don't get a lot but we did get about 6 inches last night of nice powder. I found that it's not as easy as it looks to put a carrot on a snowman's face or coal for his eyes. It was a lot of fun finding ways to do it and in the end our snowman came out perfect. Tehachapi is definitely one of those places that you love to raise your kids!
