How was I to know, my neighbor up the way is a Granola Gourmet.  Jeff Cohen approached me the other day with a see through plastic container filled with Brownie Granola bars.  Of course he had my undivided attention at that point as he began to share with me the story behind this new business he created from his own kitchen. The average sales price in Stevenson Ranch changed very little from 2006 which is remarkable considering the notable drop in sales activity each year in particular the last two years.  The median price actually increased by 3%.  Despite this very optimistic news the area of concern was the last quarter of 2007.  There was a total of 21 sales for the last quarter compared to 147 sales the same quarter last year.  This is an 86% decrease for this quarter in the number of sales which is huge!  This could be just a blip in the market.  However if it is not, this could be the first indicator of a rough road ahead for 2008 in Stevenson Ranch California..  Foreclosure activity continues to rise but has yet to become the dominant force in this market to date. The day before I was helping my Aunt and Uncle in the Canyon Country Fire.  I never imagined that the next day I would be in the same boat!! Although the last quarter of 2006 had the largest number of homes sold totaling (147) There has been a notable drop in sales activity since the second quarter of 2005 which totaled (198). The average sales price in Stevenson Ranch also dropped slightly.   However sales prices have shown signs of weakness as of late as we leave the peak home sales period.  The last few quarters have seen a more stable pattern of activity.The upper end Market has not been notably impacted in terms of sales prices.  There are presently homes selling for slightly less than the previous year but no significant decreases.  Foreclosure activity has risen some but has not become a dominant force in this market to date. I like most parents tonight in Santa Clarita attended our school's "Back to School" night at Stevenson Ranch Elementary.  This night provides parents a small snaphot of what lies ahead in terms of their children's education and who will be educating them and how. I wanted to take this opportunity to spotlight a couple of new changes this year to our school, namely our new principal and assistant principal. Meet our new Principal Candace Fleece who replaced Mrs Von Buelow this school year. Candace was the Assistant Principal for our school last year. Mrs Fleece began her career as a NSD substitute teacher and was hired to teach at Meadows Elementary where she taught from Kindergarten on up for two years. I would like to thank Swett & Crawford of Los Angeles for their donation to decorate the plaque in honor of Jake Karedjian a fallen Deputy here in Stevenson Ranch.The Downed Officer Support Ride is an annual event which was held yesterday to raise funds and to honor fallen Officers and firefighters who have lost their lives protecting our communities.  One of the stops along the route is Jake Karedjians memorial park in Stevenson Ranch.  The support from Swett and Crawford provided the means to decorate his memorial in honor of this local hero. I met Steve Shull today at our Keller Williams VIP properties monthly award and sales meeting in Stevenson Ranch California.  For those of you who do not know who Steve Shull is, he was a linebacker for the Miami Dolphins from 1980-1983. Retiring thereafter due to a knee injury.  He played 41 career games as a Miami Dolphin, played under legendary coach John Shula and played in Super Bowl XVII.  Nice resume!!Aside from Steve's Football Career which is admirable in itself, one thing I admire about Steve is he gets to make a living helping others make a better living! Steve spoke in our meeting today regarding a 100 day training schedule he conducts geared towards taking those who participate in his coaching to a higher level of performance.  In fact his company name is Performance Coachi...

You may not know this but we have a celebrity here in Stevenson Ranch that has been living in Pico Canyon Park for over 4 years now.  She was forced to move and live at her present location.  She is one of the oldest nationally recognized celebrities I  know and she has lived here in Stevenson Ranch all her life.  The Sheriff and local security know her well and even guard her from unwanted visitors. I may be going out on a limb here, to expose her for all to see.  She won't make the front page as she did a few years back, but she is still a beauty. (See the virtual photo tour below).
