On May 5th the famous ferris wheel on Santa Monica pier was taken down and dismantled.  A new one with 160,000 very colorful led lights has taken its place.  Slowly but surely many landmarks are taken down and replaced.  The Brown Derby for example - the famous restaraunt that was the  'talk of the town' for so long - said its goodbyes a few  years  ago.  Both the Brown  Derby  and Santa Monica's Old Ferris Wheel were key landmarks in Los Angeles and were placed in many movies over the years.  It is sad to see these famous things and places taken away from our city.  Only the memories and film clips will remain! http://westsidehomefinders.com/home.asp

On SAT, weather was going to be HOT in the valley area. I was scheduled for a workshop that morning.  From Pasadena to Santa Monica, I noticed the traffic was heavier than the usual weekend morning traffic.  Where are they headed to?  Of course, To The Beach.  The weather in the valley was hitting 90 degrees plus, some triple digits. Arriving to Santa Monica, the weather was a comfortable 70's with mild breeze. Just The Perfect Weather.  I live by the beautiful San Gabriel Mountains and love it; however, the beach is hard to compete.  And Santa Monica offers so much. The Pier - There is a Pacific Park where you can ride bumper cars, live circus show by volunteers, aquarium, shops, and more. The Farmer's Market - One of the acclaimed farmer's markets in the WEST.  Check out the fresh fru...

Currently, the City of Santa Monica imports over 90% of its water from Northern California and the Colorado River (over 400 miles). I am beginning a series of market updates, where we take a look at the statistics of individual submarkets of the Westside.  The first city up is Santa Monica. Here we have divided the information into two categories, Single Family Homes and Condos.  Taking a look at the numbers below, it appears Santa Monica is still performing well despite all the national media press on the downward spiral of Real Estate. Santa Monica remains a desirable location with limited real estate. Overall the inventory levels remain quite normal for this time of year. The prestigious neighborhoods, excellent schools, locality to the beaches and shopping venues all help maintain stability and desirability to the area. The Single Family homes are performing quite well and haven't really seen a dip in prices at ...
