HIGHS AND LOWS - SAN DIMAS , JULY 22, 2011   Okay, so just another addendum to the REAL ESTATE MARKET WATCH segments I've been doing:  In the future, this will be included in the MARKET WATCH blogs.     SINGLE FAMILY HOMES There are 104 Active Homes today in SAN DIMAS. Highest Priced Home -  $1,850,000 Lowest Priced Home - $199,000 Average Home Price - $350,000   CONDOS AND TOWNHOMES There are 21 Active Listings in SAN DIMAS today. Highest Priced Home is $398,000 Lowest Priced Home is $160,000 Average Priced Home is $274,000 You can see from this pricing that there are amazing parts of SAN DIMAS, and then there are middle of the road portions.  But the upside is - THERE IS SOMETHING FOR EVERYBODY in SAN DIMAS!     SAN DIMAS LIVING!

SENIORS GET IN ON THE ACTION! Okay, so the active senior residents of CLAREMONT PLACE took a tour of the facilities at LeROY HAYNES CENTER in SAN DIMAS.  They heard about the amazing 65-year tradition of the center's help to children.  The seniors were treated to a presentation by some of the residents who told of their goals for the future. And the Residential Program Director shared just two of the many success stories that come out of LeROY HAYNES. The seniors then decided to collect 100 backpacks filled with school supplies for the children at LeROY HAYNES.  Donations of school supplies or back packs must be received no later than August 12.  You can read more about it here. {EAV_BLOG_VER:ea9387d14e0f23e3} SAN DIMAS VETERANS MEMORIAL  Okay, so I'm always passing this sign at the SAN DIMAS post office. It's one of those thermometers that shows the progress for collecting funds in SAN DIMAS for the up and coming Veterans Memorial.   As I have stated before, I am nothing if not totally patriotic.   So this progress has really got me excited!   This article in one of our local papers caught my eye and so, naturally, I have to write about it.  It says that they have raised more than half of the estimated $200k to complete this project and therefore they are planning to start construction within the next two weeks!   Again, so exciting! There were eight closed sales.  That's good as it looks like more homes in SAN DIMAS are actually getting new families.  But when you consider that there are seven back on the market and eleven new listings, that's not really a lot.  This means that more homes have been put into the inventory.  And the inventory is not selling at the same pace as they are coming into the home market. ASK THE MAYOR COMES BACK TO SAN DIMAS! Okay, so the City of San Dimas has just brought back their "ASK THE MAYOR" TELEVISION PROGRAM after a year long vacation.  With this new launch of the program, you can now email your questions in so they can be answered by the Mayor himself!  Before it was a call in show and questions were answered as they came in. The new email feature was given so people could be more specific (they call it flexible) in asking the questions of the Mayor and his guests. I guess it also gives the Mayor more time to pick and choose his words and choose which questions he will answer and which ones he won't.  Hmmm, interesting! Obviously we had nine homes come onto the market in the last seven days.  Of those nine, five are standard sales, two are bankowned and two are short sales.  It would seem that the days of standard sales are coming back again. Okay, so the City of San Dimas is once again having it's SUMMER CONCERT SERIES at Civic Center Park on Bonita Avenue.  It's being held in conjunction with the farmer's market every Wednesday evening at 7PM starting this week.  The schedule can be seen HERE. Conspicuously missing this year is the popular band, THE ANSWER.  This is personally sad for me because I ALWAYS make sure I can go when the are the band.  They play all sorts of CLASSIC ROCK and are sought after all over Southern California.  The Band's website (click above) says that they are going on a big tour in 2012 and are resting and gearing up, which we can all understand.   Anyway, this year's lineup handles everything from the San Dimas High School Band to The Beach Boys tribute, to The Blues to Classic Rock. Last week in San Dimas we had nine backup offers and three that actually went into escrow.  And yet, five of those are now back on the market.  To me, that is a huge amount, almost 50%. And yet we continue to get new listings.  Eight more homes are now on the market, and most of those are standard sales, not short sales or REO'S.  The standard sales mean that either homes are coming onto the market that have enough equity not to be upside down or that investors have bought the homes and fixed them up and are now selling them. Okay, so this Saturday, June 4, 2011 there will be the most fun Rubber Ducky Race down the waterslides at Raging Waters Water Park in fabulous San Dimas.  The time is from 10AM to 1PM.  The annual charity event will benefit McKinley Children's Center also located in San Dimas.   If you have never been to one of these events and are looking for something really fun to do on Saturday, this is THE thing!  You simply can't have a bad time watching all those rubber duckies going down the water slides.  And it's all for a great cause!  Besides, isn't yellow supposed to be the "happy" color? And just like in La Verne the majority of listings are standard sales. Personally I think San Dimas is copying Laverne, I'm just saying... Okay, so today's 'tour' is of the San Dimas Wine Shop.  I have actually been here a couple of times and loved it!  This place is a little bit different than the normal WINE TASTING shop.  They have inside and outside seating available, and it's a lot of fun! For instance, this wine store has a Wine Club called "The Joy of Sipping".  How fun is that?  And if you are a 'regular' they actually have a special glass for you with your name engraved on it that you use every time you come in. Heidi, the co-owner came from wine country so her ideas about running a WINE TASTING shop are far advanced from anyone else's place I have seen.  Each week is a theme and the wines served are chosen with regard to the theme.  For instance, May 10-15th is entitled Chardonney and Cabaret: The King and Queen...
