Testing the Market

When sellers test the market are they really looking to sell their home? I think they are but I also think they will only take offers at the upper end of their price range. Usually homeowners that test the market have a price in mind "usually unrealistic" that they want their agent to hit before they part with it. They also might not accept any offer even if it's where they want the price to be because "the knowing is what their after" knowing that it's worth what they hoped it was worth. Most of the time "testing the market" is a waste of everybody's time. The flyers in the box in front of the home also can paint a false picture to homeowners in the neighborhood and buyers wishing to buy there.
