Wordless Wednesday: Kissing Statue in San Diego

Kissing Statue in San Diego "Unconditional Surrender" or more affectionately and informally known as the Kissing Statue, is located at the marina in San Diego inthe park adjacent to the Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum along the Embarcadero. This 25 foot statue is actually one of several versions in other cities including NYC, originally conceived by Seward Johnson and based on an iconic photo of a sailor kissing a woman in a white dress on V-J Day, August 1945 (the day Japan surrendered, ending WW II). It was pretty cool to see when you read about the history, especially the location in front of the Midway Aircraft Carrier.
