  I Think It's Time To Clean Out Those Dryer Vents     Spending time in and around homes and apartments must days gives me an opportunity to be reminded of what I need to do at home. Yes, I have to keep up with things at home too! I have a good “forgetter” when it comes to my own home, seeing things at work keeps me on track.       Burn permits in El Dorado County has been suspended for until further notice. The dry summer months here in the county means a higher risk of grass and forest fires, burn piles add to that risk. Those that chose to continue to burn on their property risk some stiff penalties.   Maybe you don’t need everything going your way to succeed.     I had the opportunity to participate in a fund raising Golf Tournament today at Bass Lake Golf Course in Rescue, CA. It was a local fundraiser put on by the Friends of the Library, the First Annual Event. On the second hole, I broke the head of my 4 iron and was not happy about that. I was able to finish the round feeling good about my score despite the early setback. It made me think of all the times that I make excuses for not doing well because of “something missing”. Where is Bass Lake Golf Course in Rescue, CA?   Bass Lake Golf Course may be hard to find because you will often see in associated with El Dorado Hills or Cameron Park; however, it is located in Rescue CA. It can be found at 3000 Alexandrite Drive in Rescue, CA 95672.   I had an opportunity to play there today. The course is green from the recent rains and well maintained. I would suggest a cart because the golf course is not a flat course. It was not overly crowded today and the pace was great.   As we head into the golf season things may get a bit busier, so call for a tee time early. A New Tax on Wood Begins January 1, 2013   Beginning January 1, 2013 purchases of lumber products and engineered wood products for use in California will be subject to a one percent (1%) assessment based on the selling price of the product. This may not sound like a big deal at first, but this is just one more tax that will likely cost more to administer. I don’t know why the 1% assessment is being placed, but I don’t like it much. It will affect the contractor in much the same way as a sales tax, the contractor will either the payer or collector of these assessments. There will be forms and calculations required and payments that need to be made. Of course the cost will always trickle down to the consumer. What is included in this Wood Products Assessment? Got The Crew To Swing The Clubs, Instead of Swinging The Hammers.   I had an opportunity to get the crew out on the golf course today; they deserved a break in their work schedule. I think it benefits those in the construction trades to get out on the course once in a while during the week. Today, we all had a blast getting together on the links. They have been working at an incredible rate, knocking out jobs as quick as they come in. They have stepped up to meet some pretty tight deadlines, and a reward seemed well earned. We got on the course in the afternoon, to take advantage of the slow turnout. We are not the best golfers; slow play, errand shots, and mulligans where on today’s schedule. The road project to improve the Green Valley Road and South Shingle Springs Road intersection is underway. For those familiar with this section of road, there will be delays periodically during the day. Heavy equipment, grading, tree removal and drainage have already been a part of this project.
