Ways to Keep Your ATM Pin # From Being Stolen Back in 2011, a group of researchers from UC San Diego did a paper on ways hackers steal ATM pin numbers. This is back in the news today as crooks are still getting a hold of the pins. Here are a few ways to keep this from happening.   After you type in your pin and use and the machine, the person behind you could use a heat sensor detector. Here is a picture of what the key pad looks like before and after. There are a few drawbacks to this type of hacking which is good news for us. The hacker would not know the code so if they get a 4-6 digit pin, they would not know the exact sequence of the numbers. This digital infrared camera cost $18,000 so not many are using one. This camera does not work on metal buttons since the entire keyboard hea...

Throwback Thursdays:  Griswold's ~ a Swedish Smorgasbord in Redlands   This was a popular Smorgasbord from the 60's-80's in Redlands. It had a bakery, a gift shop and a stand in line that went really fast and hundreds of people would come for lunch, dinner but mainly for brunch on Saturday's and Sundays. I remember they decorated cakes and it was fasinating to watch. I liked their Swedish Meatballs. My dad was the manager of the DMV in Redlands so we drove from Riverside to eat here many times and would meet friends here too. There was no freeway between Riverside and Redlands at that time. I found this post card and you can see how the cars in the parking lot are older models.  I remember buying this post card in the gift shop as I had a post card collection. This restaurant is now gon...

Things to See in the Inland Empire - Kimberly Crest in Redlands, California If you're looking for places to see or something to do, maybe check out the Redlands real estate historical site of Kimberly Crest House and Gardens. The Kimberly Crest House is an estate located in Southern Redlands, California. The estate and house is a Victorian Chateau that was built by Mrs. Cornelia Hill after losing four daughters and her husband to tuberculosis, and moving to Redlands from New York. In 1896, inspired by a castle she visited in France, she bought the over six acres for $3,000 and spent another $10,000 to build the castle-like home that served as the foundation of the mansion we see today. In 1905 she moved to Carlsbad and sold the property to John Alfred and Helen Cheney Kimberly, John Kim...
