Mortgage Rates Have Fallen to a New Record Low... As of today, June 7th, 2012, mortgage rates are at new record lows, according to the GSE, Freddie Mac. As reported on the Cnn Money website, mortgage rates have dropped to an average of 3.67%. Mortgage rates have been declining for six straight weeks, and the troubled economy is probably to blame. This time last year mortgage rates were averaging 4.49%. According to the report "Freddie Mac, one of the nation's largest backers of mortgage securities along with Fannie Mae, also said the average rate for 15-year mortgage -- which is popular for refinancing -- dropped to 2.94%. In 1932, Hollingshead began testing his innovative idea of an outdoor theatre and on May 16, 1933, Hollingshead was given a patent for his invention.   Hollingshead's drive-in opened in New Jersey on June 6, 1933, on Admiral Wilson Boulevard and could accommodate up to 400 cars. Look Who is Monkeying Around     This week I was at the Philadelphia Zoo in Pennsylvania. It open in 1874 and was the first zoo in the United States. It had 813 animals and now houses over 1300 animals; over 300 species and subspecies.     My absolutely favorite place at the zoo is to watch the monkeys. The zoo keeps their Gorillas in a wonderful 2.5 Acre Inside/Outside Primate Reserve. These gorillas are called Western Lowland Gorillas from Africa and are commonly known as “Silverbacks.” They are now considered an endangered species due to the Ebola virus and to illegal poaching.   Birds on Vacation in Pennsylvania   While on vacation this week on the East Coast, we spent a few days in the wonderful and inspirational city of Philadelphia, PA. I continually took pictures of birds I saw during my travels.     This little guy was following me around at Liberty Hall and the Liberty Bell in downtown Philadelphia.       This bird was taken nearby our hotel at the Marriot in the downtown area.   I found this guy on a wire near Front Street where we had lunch.   I drive by this stable in Redlands, CA daily and typically I can never pull over and take any pictures but yesterday I had my chance. With camera in hand, I took them as they were walking around eating.   In the south end of Redlands, there are large horse properties and small stables like this one. This stable reminds me of time forgotten with fields of flowers, wooden/chain link fences and powers lines above ground.  It is such a pretty area to drive through. If you go further south, you will see huge horse stables and executive homes.   Looking at older stables like this reminds me of a simplier time when I was a kid.   2 Baby Birds Fell Out of the Tree   Last Wednesday I had my palm trees trimmed. While cutting off limbs they found a bird’s nest. The nest fell to the ground and then the 2 baby birds fell out onto the grass. Above picture; this is the old date casing that the nest had been attached to. Here is a picture of the contractor carrying it up the ladder and placing it back into a pocket of the trunk. They put the nest and the babies back up in the tree. Then the next evening we came home and found the nest on the ground but no babies. We were out in the dark with a flashlight looking and listening for the babies but there was still sounds up high in the tree.
