Well that title is about three different posts that inspired me this morning. We planned a weekend getaway and at the last minute, David got some work that had to be done. So, we canceled our plans and I was mopey about it but decided to make lemonade out of lemons and get a course out of the way. I got up early to blog and comment as usual and noticed that I was having extra time....because David was sleeping in. He finally got up around 9:00 which is very late for him and said...."Guess what?" "I finished my work, let' go to the Coast"! Well, what a wonderful surprise. We packed up and were on the road within the hour. We had so much fun. I can't encourage you enough to take a break and do something wonderful for yourself. Bald Eagles Patriot and Liberty are quite famous due to the Cal Trans "Eagle Cam" in Redding. Cal Trans biologists were surprised by the pair's commitment to their nest. Workers placed a traffic cone in the nest in an attempt to encourage the nesting pair to relocate. The eagles were undaunted and the workers removed the cone. Patriot and Liberty have continued to successfully nest each year since. Now dubbed "Turtle Bay Eagle Cam" will go live again this fall to follow these Mates For Life. The pair were observed mid summer of this year peacefully enjoying the end of a late July day. I still see many of the agents in my local area using photos with "blow out" or "white out" from the glare of sunlight coming through windows. There are some easy things you can do to avoid this. Without using any photographic techniques, you can schedule your appointment for dusk when the angle of the Sun will not be directly challenging your photos. Dusk is a beautiful time to take your photos and most likely you will have a good effect of seeing the outside beautifully through your windows. Look at the shot to see if you have the "blow out" effect and if you do, take steps to correct. You can pull the blinds, close the curtains. Turn on the lights for a warm glow and retake the shot. I set a new goal for myself and that is to start working in RAW format with my photos. RAW is a setting on your DSLR camera that offers an output option, which contains all the pixel information captured by the camera's sensors. The RAW file has not been compressed or processed in any way to conform to standard file formats such as JPEG. It has more data to work with and allows the user more options for enhancements. I spent last weekend just playing around and taking photos in the RAW setting. You can't use any of the "auto" functions on your camera if you are using RAW. The photos are large. Shasta County Homes Sales October 18, 2011 The market's inventory is continuing a steady decline, while sales continue to trump last years results. Current MLS results report 1,901 homes have sold year-to-date, 2011, versus 1,637 homes sold for the same period last year. The present inventory of 1,131 homes listed for sale represents a 5.7 months supply. A 3 to 6 month supply is considered balanced between a Buyer and Seller's market. Real Estate Market forecasting is challenging. However, we do know Shasta County's declining inventory is a key component that can fuel supply and demand pressures and eventual price increases? The insight of hindsight: In 2005 home inventories began to grow at a rapid pace in Shasta County. However the momentum of appreciation continued to allow home prices to rise for a short time. Redding CA - Flowers in My Courtyard - Growing a Small Garden--We downsized last May to a beautiful little Frank Lloyd Wright home. We are loving it. I have a small Courtyard and I am gardening again and planning ever so carefully what will go in the garden. Toni Weidman writes about her garden often and the butterflies that visit along with the Hummingbirds. I have the Hummies coming but became inspired by Toni's photos of butterflies to buy a Lantana plant to attract the butterflies. There is this on-going observation in my life as a Realtor. This is my third career. Redding CA - Saturday was a Great Day - Farmer's Market - Dead Bluff and More--Yesterday was such a wonderful day. Fall is here and we were out and about all day. Started with the Farmer's Market. I went looking for my special pumpkin....and found it. We brought home veggies for the weeks menus and my RAM came for my machine. Installed the RAM this AM....I'm blazing now! We also headed down to Red Bluff to see a car. We are in the market for a 4 wheel drive vehicle for Winter. I called it Dead Bluff in the title and seriously, it is a charming little town with historical charm. We stumbled on a lovely spot to take some photos and enjoyed our trip.
