David took off this morning to spend the day with friends in San Francisco. I really wanted to go but since we don't leave Ginger and taking her presented logistical problems, I'm at home with her and we are having a Girls Day! She's looking at me strangely now and again because there is a slightly different rythem going on since David is not here. I don't have to be considerate about another person being in the house and can "let loose" so to speak. Do you remember Cate Blanchette in "Bandits" with Bruce Willis and Billy Bob Thornton? Well, I will never forget that kitchen scene with Cate Blanchette preparing a special dinner for her husband. I think she stole the movie. So as Ginger and I have fun today you can imagine how loud the music is playing and what all we are up to...... Just...

Owl Day! Cute Owls   Three in a Row Owls   Barn Owl   Handsome Owl   Fun Owls   It is impossible for me to do "speechless" anything. Laughing at myself here! This is my attempt at having fun with the subject of "Owls" today. These are not my photos or artwork but free royalty photos and clipart. I am sticking to less writing and more of a visual theme. Here is the Wiki on Owls for those that want to know more. I love Owls as you can see and the Wiki is amazing with the information having been shared there. Someday soon, perhaps I will have my own opportunity to get photos of an owl(s). Have a beautiful Sunday!   I am Jeanean Gendron, your Redding and Shasta County Specialist. Ethanol Fueled Fireplaces are fueled by bioethanol a renewable fuel manufactured from plant by-products. The combustion by-products of these fireplaces are heat, steam and carbon dioxide. The emission free burn allows the fireplace to be installed in homes without a venting system. There are several manufactures including Ecosmart, Digfire and Digifire. Spokespersons for EcoSmart fireplaces state they are certified for use in California. Well, we are swamped with work but just having fun with that. We are also enjoying living life and I got up today to plan our shopping for Thanksgiving. We are headed to Trader Joe's and I have to say....I love Trader Joe's. I have taken their wonderful newsletter "Food Pilgrimager" and made my list for the day of Thanksgiving and the Well Planned Feast of Gratitude we will share. We will be starting the day nibbling on a Cranberry Chevre Log and sipping a nice wine "Roccalta Sangiovese". The wine is the Castellani family product of Italian wines that have become well regarded around the world. With deep roots in antique viticulture and an open, exploratory spirit, the family continues to craft new, exciting wines. I love this....thank you Trader Joe's for helping us select a beautiful ...

I love the Fall season for so many reasons. It gives way to the end of the year and the opportunity to evaluate and plan for the coming new year. Having long been a business planner, I always look forward to the activity that is involved in the ending business cycle where we evaluate the year's business and formulate the plan for the next year. It has always been a part of my life just as marketing and technology have been. It's critical to assess your business throughout the year but especially at the end of the year. The formula is simple and we all know it well. I will be analyzing where my business came from in this year and planning how to capitalize on that success to build a better year in 2012. Happy Business Planning, it's a good thing! I am Jeanean Gendron, your Redding and Sh...

There are many reports and forecasts on the real estate market and economy in general. Most appear to provide short term forecasts based on recent events of the so called bubble. ActiveRain member Cal Yoder introduced us to My Alan Kendall's video talks on the subject. Mr. Kendall provides an interesting historical perspective on the economic cycles of our nation. He combines that information, with current events, and provides some sage advice on timing today's real estate market 2011 and beyond. Every student of economics knows printing money sets the stage for inflation. Mr.Kendall suggests the present pace of $3.3B dollars being printed DAILY is preparing for a 700% increase in today's real estate market. That may seem hard to believe given the current market situation. I remember wh...

Shasta Market Summary Home Sales November 14, 2011 are matching numerous national trends as inventories decline. The positive news of increasing home sales continues to hold true. Current Shasta MLS raw data reports 1,058 homes listed for sale. That inventory represents a 5.3 months supply. 2,079 homes have sold year-to-date, 2011, versus 1,800 homes sold for the same period last year. A 3 to 6 month supply is considered balanced between a Seller and Buyer's market. Real Estate Market forecasters are challenged as some watch the "shadows" and and others report the bright spots. However, we do know Shasta County's declining inventory and increase in home sales are keys in the supply and demand equation. Historically 3,024 homes sold YTD, at the peak of 2005. We have a new short sale on the market. It is a very sweet property but not in a very good neighborhood. On the first day that we listed it, we got two offers. I listed it on Thursday night and Friday, I received a call from an agent wanting to show the property and if we had any offers. We have been in a multiple offer situation in this price range for a couple of months and I was not surprised. We did not get an offer from this agent. We happened to have a busy day and to be out doing real estate things when I got word of the first offer. A couple of hours later, I heard from the agent again wanting to make sure that I had received the offer. I called and got her voice mail, leaving a message that I would be home in a couple of hours and call to confirm receipt of the offer. We got ho...

We are off today to Dunsmuir to take a new listing and to enjoy one of our fav places. The City of Dunsmuir has quite the historical charm of an early 1900's town on the transportation routes of the railways. It is also blessed in that fact that it is nestled in along a canyon with the Sacramento River flowing through the canyon. Making for sweet and quaint restaurants and shops, we love to visit and always go looking for the trains. We also spend time by the River with Ginger our golden retriever. She likes the River. We will come back and share our day and the photos that come our way. Always fun to combine our days with the goodness of life. Have a great day and make sure you have some fun a long the way. I am going to Lunch with my Boss today, my Broker Ross Domke. He's more than my boss and my Broker, however. He's my friend, my brother, my mentor, and my coach not just in real estate but in life. I admire him greatly and feel much gratitude for having been inspired by him and changed through our mutual work and goals. Life is kind in that way. We are changed by the people we choose to associate with and to emulate. He is many things to the people that are fortunate to be in his circle of connection. He is a leader and a learner. He's there at the top of the list for taking you some place new and he's the first one to say....cool...I want to know more about that. I think that last sentence is the best testimony to what an inspirational person he is. Diversity is a great asset and only ...

Veteran's Day 2011, We have twelve US Armed Forces Veterans in our family. One did not return from active duty in the Vietnam Conflict. I'm reminded that freedom isn't free and honor is due where honor is due. The US Army answers the question about Veteran's Day. What is it? Although World War I officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919, fighting actually stopped seven months earlier when an armistice, or a temporary cessation of fire, between the allied nations and Germany went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. For that reason, Nov. 11, 1918 is generally considered the end of The Great War, the war to end all wars. President Wilson first proclaimed Armistice Day on Nov. 11, 1919 to show solemn pride in the heroi...

I am thankful for the Joy of Living a Full Life--It may sound like a redundant statement but it is actually a statement of celebration. This splendid life we have is for cherishing and living to the fullest. I write often about that aspect of the "goodness of lfe". I am so grateful for the fact that it is how I have lived. I get so inspired here in the RAIN because I see so many of us expressing that joy of living in the present moment and being aware of the blessings that are given us. "We walk the talk" and that is what counts. Each day is filled with those opportunities to express and to connect with our families and friends and to "be with them" in heart and mind. If a physical state can not happen then we make those phone calls or emails or FB connections of love and care. It is so...

I'm up early today and have many things to do after taking a Sunday off. Every time I accomplish my goal of taking time off, I then feel the pressure of things mounting up. If I work every single day and attend to all the details given in a day....I manage to feel like things are manageable. Taking time off is so beneficial but I don't like the feeling of being buried when I return to the "doing" aspects of being a Realtor. Now to add to this delimma of mine, I have found such good writers here in the RAIN, that my commenting seems to have taken over my life. I have been at commenting for over an hour now and I am still having trouble feeling like my tasks of "commenting" here in the RAIN is done for the day. Now, given....that I will check the blog roll when time allows often in a day ...
