Your Paradise California Home Needs Grass for Great Curb Appeal   You spent hours picking just the right granite for your countertops. You tested half a dozen paint colors before settling on the perfect hue for the living room. You even sat in several bathtubs before buying one at the home center. So why is your lawn a patchy mix of green and brown dotted by the occasional dandelion rather than a lush expanse that signals your impeccable taste to everyone who happens by? Unlike the interior of your home, which only friends and family ever admire, your yard is there for the entire world to see. That's why good landscaping can increase your home's value by 5% to 11%, according to a Michigan State University study. And by far the biggest component of your landscape is the grass. Moreover, ...

The Town of Paradise provides a deferred loan to eligible first-time home buyers The Town of Paradise provides a deferred loan to eligible first-time home buyers. The loan provides a bridge between what borrowers can afford on their own and the amount needed to purchase a home. The loan is secured by a note and a deed of trust on the home. It does not require monthly payments. Repayment of the loan is required when the home is sold; the family stops using it as their principal residence; or title is transferred out of the names of the original borrowers. At the time the loan is repaid, the Agency collects its original loan amount, plus interest or a share of the homeowner's equity.   Paradise is an incorporated town in Butte County, in the northwest foothills of California's Central Valley, in the Sierra. The town is considered part of the Chico Metropolitan Area. The town of Paradise is spread out on a wide ridge which rises between deep canyons on either side. These canyons are formed by the west branch of the Feather River to the east, and Butte Creek to the west. It's a question I'm asked every time I give someone from another area my address. My answer is always the same, "yes, it really is living in Paradise". There is a large sign as you enter Paradise that reads, "May you find Paradise to be all its name implies". Paradise has long been known as the Retirement Capitol of Northern California. Almost everyone in Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay Area and even Southern California knows someone who retired to Paradise. The town is located approximately halfway between Sacramento and the Oregon border, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The elevation of Paradise and its neighboring community of Magalia are approximately 1600 ft to 3,000 feet. The majority of the population is retired, which makes for a great community, geared for...

Real Estate for Today’s Magalia and Paradise California Home Sellers and Home Buyers Are You Making The $64,000 Mistake? We have all heard of the $64,000 question, but what about the $64,000 mistake! Are you making the $64,000 mistake? You certainly are if you have been paying a monthly rent of $1000 for 64 months running! Just imagine how much better off you would have been by making home payments instead of rent payments. What about increased home equity? Homes do increase in value over the long-term. If you purchased a $100,000 home and it went up just 3% per year, in 64 months that $100,000 home would be worth $116,000. When you compare renting, where you lost $64,000, to owning a home, where you saw an increase of at least $16,000, there simply is no comparison. Paying rent just do...
