Interest rates for buying a home on the Palos Verdes Peninsula stayed level this week. The following are excerpts from the newsletter on interest rates published by HSH Associates : "Mortgage rates declined a fair bit this week, as investors refocused on global economic troubles and the words and deeds of central bankers around the globe.Even as economic data continue to show that modest U.S. economic expansion continues, doubts remain that it is durable enough to continue in the face of considerable worldwide headwinds, or strong enough so as to be an engine to help lift the world from its malaise. The Palos Verdes Estates real estate market continues to be relatively strong. The number of homes listed for sale at the end of March of 59 is a 41% increase over this time last year. The average number of homes sold per month during the first quarter 2016 increased 6% compared to last year's fourth quarter, averaging 12 sales per month. This equates to about about 5 months of inventory. The number of homes in escrow at the end of March is 14 homes.             The following is a chart of the 38 homes sold in Palos Verdes Estates during the 1st quarter of 2016 The average price per square foot over the last 3 months has been $714 per sq. ft., a decrease of approx. 10% over the comparable period last year due to an unusually high price per sq. ft. of homes sold a year ago January.    T... 04/11/2016
