Last weekend we were in Pacific Beach walking on the boardwalk near the roller coaster at Belmont Park and I saw a pyramid on the sand.  I haven't been to the sand sculpture contests around San Diego County in many years, but this was made on the stretch of beach with Crystal Pier and the hills of La Jolla in the background.  Another beautiful day in San Diego!

Pacific Beach is a typical Southern California beach community.  I love this seaside town, situated south and adjacent to La Jolla, perhaps because I lived and went to high school here, but also because it has retained its quirkiness and charm of the California beach lifestyle for generations.  Yesterday, while taking a drive through Pacific Beach, I noticed the banner below inviting worshipers to this Sunday's church service at the Christ Lutheran Church and thought that this banner symbolizes most of us who live in a beachside community... some days we are probably a little of each!

This weekend the thunderboats return to Mission Bay!  These fast moving boats are incredible to watch, even if all we see are the giant "rooster tails" behind the hydroplanes as they speed by!  These powerful machines can reach speeds up to 190 mph on the straightaways.  Action began at 8 a.m. this morning and will continue to 5 p.m. today and tomorrow will start at the same time.  There are many classifications in the races and different types of boats will be racing.  I was out there earlier, but unable to get close enough to take photos of any of the earlier races, but here is a picture of one of the boats and a picture of the boats with spectators.  An exciting event to watch from the Crown Point Park by Mission Bay!

Short Sale Process Explained - Pacific Beach California - Short Sale my Home Do you think you are in a potential short sale situation?  Do you know your options?   You do have them... Overview:   Short sales typically occur when a borrower is in a situation where the home is worth less than what is owed to the lender on the property.   In some cases depending on the borrowers situation, the lender may approve a short sale which allows the property to be sold for less than the amount owed.   In this case the lender approves the short sale and takes less, and the borrower is no longer responsible to pay the loan.   In some cases the lender can ask that the borrower take back a loan to pay the deficiancy amount between what was owed and what the property sold for.   However, in many cases...

The Plunge at Belmont Park in Pacific Beach is 85 years old.  My husband learned to swim there when he was a youngster, along with most of the population of Pacific Beach over the years.   The Plunge is now considered to be the largest heated indoor swimming pools in Southern California measuring in at 12,000 square feet.  Built in 1925, it was the centerpiece of the Mission Beach Amusement Center, now known as Belmont Park.  The Plunge was originally a salt water pool and was converted in 1940 to a fresh water pool. Today, the Plunge is part of the Wave House Athletic Club.

Belmont Park in Pacific Beach is one of my favorite places to visit!  Not only does it have one of the few wooden roller coasters left in the United States, but it has rides, bumper cars, glow in the dark mini golf, a carousel and cotton candy... all along the ocean boardwalk of Mission Beach in Pacific Beach.  There is something for everyone and once you are done with the rides, have a drink or lunch/dinner at one of the open air restaurants that line the boardwalk.  Fun in the sun in Pacific Beach!

Last Sunday we finally had a full sunny weekend this summer in San Diego so we decided to take advantage of our own back yard and go to the beach in Pacific Beach. The beach was packed with sunbathers from near and far and it was the first time since the July 4th we had these kind-of crowds in Pacific Beach. If you are planning on visiting San Diego, Pacific Beach offers some of the best white sand beaches in San Diego! This particular beach is just north of Mission Beach and is located off of Crystal Pier.

"Never give up" is what I have always tried to teach my children through example and through my support.  This morning my daughter demonstrated that to me when we went to her wakeboarding lesson at the Mission Bay Aquatic Center in Pacific Beach.  Last week was her first lesson and despite getting dunked in the water countless times, swallowing half the bay and never being able to get up on the wakeboard, she still wanted to continue the lessons today.  This morning on her second try she was able to get up and even though it was for short periods of time she was thrilled to have accomplished it!  The best part is that all the other wakeboarders are not only male, but most are experienced wakeboarders, and she is the only female taking beginning lessons.  These great group of guys all we...

Once a week and usually on the weekends we have a "traditional" breakfast at our favorite breakfast place in San Diego.  Located in Pacific Beach, The Eggery was established in 1987 and features both breakfast and lunch items which are served from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day of the week.  The host, waiters and waitresses have been there for years and are the friendliest on the boardwalk!    Once you have eaten there it is easy to believe that The Eggery has been chosen as "Best Breakfast at the Beach" for many years.  My daughter loves the light and fluffy waffles,  my husband is a bacon, eggs and pancake man, my son enjoys selecting items for his own deluxe omelet and I, although I try to get something new, invariably eat the Bacado Benedict.  For me, nothing is better than avocado, cri...

Kate Sessions Park and I have been "friends" for a long time.  I LOVE this park and most would agree that it has the BEST views in San Diego.  I have visited Kate Sessions since I was a teenager in high school when we would take blocks of ice and slide down the hill, had picnics there with family & friends, and taken my children to play when they were babies.  Recently there have been times that I go there to sit quietly and reflect on how truly beautiful San Diego is.  If you haven't had an opportunity to visit this beautiful park, make the time... it is well worth the trip. Kate Sessions Memorial Park is located at 5115 Soledad Road in Pacific Beach.

First there was Haiti.  Then Chile.  And now here right at home in California.  Is it my imagination or are earthquakes more frequent and stronger than ever before?  Certainly more than when I was a kid growing up in California!  I've been more and more concerned, thinking about the prophecies predicted many years ago.  It brings back to my memory the Bible verse:  Matthew 24:7 "For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places." My friend called me on Good Friday to tell me that she has seen signs of the Tribulation, and of Jesus' return.  I pondered it carefully and asked for God to show me whether it was true, or just a rumor.  I put it into the back of my mind and didn't think about it an...
