Something over twenty years ago I publicly opposed the idea of incorporating Oakhurst.  I believe my reasons were valid for that time.  That was then, this is now. I have seen Oakhurst grow for approximately sixty five years.  Look at your new Sierra Telephone Directory then come to the telephone office and let me show you the directory for 1945, the year I went to work here.  It shows three customers in Oakhurst.  That's when it was rural. I speak from the perspective of those many years and further from the perspective of having represented this area for twelve years on the Madera County Board of Supervisors. It is those twelve years of experience and the frustration of realizing that the four valley board members never really understood our mountain area They had little feel for the ...

Knowledge and Experience Make the DifferenceFew Real Estate Practitioners anywhere have the depth and breadth of education and experience that Ed brings to the profession.  Ed started his Real Estate experience in 1976 when he became a Real Property Right-of-Way Agent with Sierra Telephone.  For the next 24 years he purchased land and leases; procured easements and rights-of-way; and obtained permits from various government agencies at national, state, county, and district levels.  He parceled land, wrote legal descriptions, drafted documents, and coordinated activities with Land Surveyors, Title/Escrow Officers, Developers, Builders, Contractors, Public Officials, Appraisers, Attorneys, Engineers, Agents, Brokers, and other land services professionals.  In 2005 Ed completed 6 additiona...

Grabbing at thin straws shows the emptiness of the Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt (FUD) campaign against change (Incorporation of Oakhurst) being waged by the alleged Keep Oakhurst Rural Coalition (KORC).  Here's another interesting acronym, (CAVE) Citizens Against Virtually Everything.  KORC/CAVE/FUD, "birds of a feather..." and all that - It has a ring to it. California law states that the words "town" and "city" are "explicitly interchangeable."  I personally don't care if we call ourselves Town of Oakhurst or City of Oakhurst, as long as we move control of our finances and our future from flatland Madera to our rural mountain community. I want US not THEM to make decisions that affect our rural mountain culture.  I want a governing body that WE elect, not one that THEY elect. ACTION c...

Since no one in the opposition to the change (Incorporation) movement is driven by "fear of change" (just ask them), the following is for only those who are outside the world of KORC.What is Metathesiophobia?Defined as "a persistent, abnormal, and unwarranted fear of changes", each year this surprisingly common phobia causes countless people needless distress. Known by a number of names - Metathesiophobia and Fear of Change being the most common - the problem often significantly impacts the quality of life. What is the cause of Metathesiophobia?Like all fears and phobias, metathesiophobia is created by the unconscious mind as a protective mechanism. At some point in your past, there was likely an event linking changes and emotional trauma. Whilst the original catalyst may have been ...

It's been a while since I have had time to write much of anything. In the month of January I got married. I started my own real estate company, REO Properties in Oakhurst, CA. It snowed and our truck is stuck in the driveway right now! That's another story. Anyways.....I decided to stop giving away a part of my commission to my business partner since I was doing 100% of the work and I was already a broker myself. The only reason I went to work with him in the first place was I thought I'd market one or two properties and he already had the signs, a business name, a business license, etc. Little did I know I would have 25 to 30 listings in 6 months. I was out there in the public eye building up his company, marketing his company and doing all the work. So I spent some money and started m...

Sorry for not writing anything lately but I have been so busy I just have not had any time. I currently have over 20 active listings, all foreclosed properties and up to 4 in escrow at any given time. Plus I'm still doing 1 or 2 appraisals per week. And all the BPO's and inspections, and etc., etc. Busy is good. I usually start around 8 am and often find myself working until 7 or 8 pm at night and I have been working on the weekends too.  On December 6th, I'm going to be the guest speaker at our local MLS talking about foreclosed properties. So if your in Oakhurst or Mariposa, please stop in!The name of our company is REO Properties. Currently we have three agents including myself. And I'm always on the lookout for new agents.
