Though Newport Beach is home, I couldn't point to any one home as my childhood home. I lived in 7 houses growing up in Newport Beach. Newport Beach has been home since I was six weeks old.  My first stop was my family's beach house.  Rough time for a newborn, living ocean front in Newport Beach.     It was my grandparents' summer home for over 40 years, and it was a lot of fun to have a place like that to call home.  Like many of the homes in which I lived, it looks very different.  Instead of the beach cottage you see above, it's now a huge (relatively speaking) oceanfront home which sits on almost the entire lot. Still, it brings back so many memories when I bike or rollerblade down the Newport Beach Boardwalk, even though it's a totally different home. The other area of Newport Beach...

Melia is a lovely boutique that opened in October of 2007 and is owned by the husband and wife team, Melia and Ben Hooker. It is located at 406-32nd St. in Newport Beach, conveniently next door to William Harold Jewelers. Melia's phone number is 949-566-9963. Melia started off as mostly a clothing store and has evolved into more a vintage jewelry store.  Melia specializes in vintage Navajo silver, designer costume jewelry and many other types of vintage jewelry with semi-precious gems such as ivory, lapis, turqoise, garnets, pearl, bone, shell, wood and many other natural elements. William Harold Jewelers is one of my favorite places to browse.  The first time I was in the store, I was around 13 years old and in with my mom.  It was always a treat to see the beautiful jewelry, try some on and occasionally take a prized piece home. William Harold Jewelers was established in Newport Beach in 1969 and is family run.  Though Tim Harold Sr. still does all of the buying, supervises the establishment and is available by appointment, his son, Tim, is now often found behind the counters full of beautiful baubles and jewels.   About half of the jewelery in William Harold Jewelers is estate jewelry, and they have some amazing pieces.  My sister and I were able to locate the perfect ring for my brother to give his now wife as her engagement ring.  It gave her a completely uni...

What Advantages does Blogging on Active Rain Offer to My Clients and to Me? The people who founded and designed the Active Rain platform have a strong knowledge of SEO and real estate and have designed a blogging platform and social network that offer a very powerful tool to those of us in the real estate industry. How do I know this?  I've seen my personal website come up to the top of Google for terms like Costa Mesa homes over time , and better yet, I've seen blog posts come to the top of Google in a matter of hours. The post in the Google search above was posted just a couple of hours before I took this screen shot.  You'll see that there are over 3,650,000 results for this search term, and my post is 6th and 7th on page one of Google after just a few hours.  Looking to sell your Sa...

Santa Ana Heights Homes offer an Equestrian Oasis on the Back Bay Are you looking for a home where you can have horses?  Owning one of the Santa Ana Heights homes may be just the ticket.     Santa Ana Heights is an area of Orange County that was an unincorporated part or Orange County for many years until its recent annexation by Newport Beach.  Near John Wayne Airport and golf courses, bordered by the Back Bay and Costa Mesa, Santa Ana Heights offers many things not available in nearby cities.   When Santa Ana Heights was unincorporated, it allowed for animals such as chickens and horses and dog kennels, and now that it's been annexed, it's one of the few areas in Orange County that still allows for this. So if you're interested in having lifestock or the equestrian lifestyle is for yo...

Huge Waves Hit  the Wedge in Newport BeachThere is a swell that is currently hitting the south facing beaches including the Wedge in Newport Beach. Newport Beach is known for the Wedge, and there were some incredible waves. The waves were as high as 20 feet or even higher, and there were many body boarders, surfers who were riding those monsters. The Wedge in Newport Beach is located at the end of the Balboa Peninsula, and there is a rock jetty right next to it even making it more dangerous. The waves and surf are extremely treacherous, and are really only for the experts. There were lifeguards stationed along the water's edge, and the lifeguard boat was picking people up behind the waves.  Truly amazing waves at the Wedge in Newport Beach  If you are planning on going to the Wedge toda...

The Newport Beach real estatemarket has been affected by the economy, but prices have not been discounted as in some other areas. The median price in one of Newports zip codes 92660 is still at $1,685,000, and that is the lowest of all the Newport Beach zip-codes. The average days on market is 203 days. Some homes do sell quicker it just depends on the sellers motivation. I have seen homes sell the first week, and then again I have seen some sit for a couple of years. Some homeowners still believe that they can sell their homes for what they paid for them 3 years ago. In order to sell your home in adequate timing, so you don't have to sell it at a give away price, you must understand the absorption rates in your market. Absorption rate is how much time it will take to sell a home in you...

Having lived in Newport beach for many years, I pretty much have experienced the Newport Beach lifestyle more than half my life. Last Friday my family and I went out on a Duffy boat cruise. This is one of the funnest, most relaxing, and beautiful things to do if you live in Newport Beach or if you come visit. As we departed from the Duffy headquarters we cruised along the bay and came across some of the restaurants along the way. First stop Joe's Crab Shack, Kids love coming here. The waiters and waitresses put on a show while serving your meal, it's loud and the kids have a blast! Next was the Rusty Pelican, one of my favorites for a quick Happy Hour cocktail and apetizer. You can sit at at a table along the window and have an absolutely awesome view! You will see a seal or two. Then t...
