I never tire of walking on the beach or listening to pounding surf. Unfortunately, we don't have much oceanfront in Sacramento. OK, we don't have any. But we can drive 2 to 3 hours and reach the ocean, which is better than living in, oh, say, Minneapolis. Here is proof of me walking on the beach in Marina, California. We spent last weekend at the Sanctuary Beach Resort. This place is a collection of small buildings, some halfplexes and cottages, with ocean and / or dune views. It's closer to Monterey than to Santa Cruz but an easy commuting distance to each. Mostly, it's peace and quiet. The staff delivers breakfast in a picnic basket to your door in the morning. If you need constant motion about you while on vacation, the Sanctuary Beach Resort might be too boring for you. But if your...

Real Estate Market in Marina California  HOMES FOR SALE IN MARINA CALIFORNIA   Prices are affordable in this town located just six miles north or Monterey.  This coastal town, bordered by the former Fort Ord, and the Salinas River, was once a flat sto the the Southern Pacific Railroad.  I remember as a child, every Christmas, they would have the Santa Clause train from the Wharf to Cannery Row....it was exciting as a kid to ride the train with Santa and get candy canes.  Marina offers affordable housing, and is the center between Monterey and Salinas with easy access to freeways, Silicon Valley and beyond.  Everything you need is in the town from Dr.'s to Chiropractors, Dentists, shopping, restaurants...even a beach.  Located on only 9,000 acres, it is a town that people who live in Mar...

Marina State Beach, California This is one of my favorite beach walks. You can walk on and on forever, or so it seems. Once you are a few blocks from the parking lot you have the beach mostly to yourself - except for the flocks of birds. Dress warmly, in layers as this is a windy beach much of the time. If you want an easier walk, you can stroll along the boardwalk. This is not a beach for swimming as it has strong rip currents and is very hazardous. The beach is at the foot of Reservation Rd. in Marina, Ca. The parking lot closes a half hour after sunset.   copyright 2008 by Eileen Begley Looking to buy Monterey Real Estate?

Locke Paddon Park, Marina, CA Locke Paddon Park in Marina is a "vernal pond", which is a salt marsh. It is one of the few protected wetlands in the county. It is a good bird watching location. I have seen white egrets and great blue herons here. The park also has picnic tables and a walking path around it.Contact the City of Marina Parks & Recreation Department for access and use rules and guidelines: (831) 884-1253.More Info about Marina, CA copyright 2008 Eileen Begley

Marina, California - State Beach    Who says man was not meant to fly!If you want to go fly a kite, hang glide, parasail - this is the place. You do need to have taken instructions and be certified to fly on this beach. It's also wonderful to watch the flights.   This is definitely not a swimming beach because of strong, dangerous riptids though.  Sunsets at Marina State Beach can be incredible. This is a basically "undiscovered " beach. No big crowds here most of the time. You can walk for miles with only the birds for company.
