As a Realtor I get this question all the time.  Let me share with you why I like Mar Vista.  The houses are really well priced for the Westside of Los Angeles, West of the 405 Freeway.  View Larger Map Where else on the Westside can you buy and house for as low as $500k and then on the higher end $3mil.   The older homes even from the 1930's have good bones. The yards are decent, 4,500 sq ft to 7,000 as an average range.  Quite a few homeowners buy in Mar Vista with future plans to move to Santa Monica.  However, most end up staying since it is such a great area.  The neighbors really work together as a community to create more opportunities.  Visit the Farmers Market on Sundays to meet people and visit one of the community tables.  Also, the best resource is a blog by Sarah Auerswald, ...

This area, Mar Vista, known as 90066, West of the 405 freeway is one of the most affordable communities on L.A.'s Westside. You get more home and yard for your dollar. The neighbors are really involved in the schools and community. Definitely worth considering in your home search. Visit the Mar Vista Farmers Market on Sundays. There is an information booth about community events and city projects.

Well it finally has come to this! I am considering a Short Sale! "...Well it finally has come to this! I am considering a Short Sale. .."Two days ago I receive this e-mail from a client, whom I sold a house at the top of the market. The plan was that he would enlarge the square feet and then sell it for a profit if need be. Long story short he never did the addition. Periodically called me, emailed me to see if he could refinance. Sadly the numbers did not make sense. I suggested the same course of action enlarge it and you will get your money back and then some. Well a few years just flew by and I got this e-mail. I have to do a short sale. This agent was recommended by Bank of America as a Short Sale Expert. My first reaction was do not do this Short Sale. You will ruin your credit if...
