New England Clam Chowda from James Hook Boston, MA. Some of you were trying to guess what was after the Clam aka Steamer Appetizer on Friday. Well sorry for the late reveal. The second course was the New England Clam Chowda aka Chowder. It was quite delicious, and I decided to bake some shrimp and have some of the leftover rice and veggies from the Jean-Georges Vongerichten meal from the day before. So sorry there were no pictures of the Chowder & the Shrimp, Diane and I were famished and ate them without sharing photos. I know I will have to order and make again for you guys to see it:)) Now I am sorry for those who guessed Lobster as the main course. I saved that for Saturday's dinner. So with that said another food post to be done.  Wishing you a safe and healthy life and I look forwa...

Friday Night Appetizer: are you ready for the main course? Well, I thought it was time to make another nice meal.... I should post about yesterday's dinner but instead let me tease you about tonight's dinner.I find that an Appetizer is crucial to set the stage for a good meal and a good mood. So, with that said we had what Bostonians call Steamers and the rest of the country calls them clams as an Appetizer. Yes, I took the trouble and ordered it from James Hook of Boston, MA not bought locally... clearly it was worth the shipment and yes, I ordered a few other items. too:)) Stay tuned for the other items of the dinner:)) Wishing you a safe and healthy life and I look forward to your comments. A potential client recently posed this question to me: Do you put up For Sale signs? I told him "Yes" and the reasons being that it potentially attracts people who happen to be driving by not even thinking that there was something for sale, and at the same time, it gets my name out there - buyers and sellers see my signs (hence, name) everywhere, so it generates more business for me as well.  A dual benefit.  Now with that said, there are certain places where I will not put up For Sale signs because I have come to know the neighborhoods and streets where people come out only to bad mouth the property. As most of you know, my niche market is selling vacant land. There are quite a few instances where neighbors will confront me and potential buyers saying, “you cannot build here” and somet...

A touch of Paradise: Bird of Paradise a.k.a the Crane Flower. (The botanical name is Strelitzia Reginae) Thank you Debe Maxwell, CRS  for the inspiration.  Here we are already in the fifth month of the year, May, with summer fast approaching on the heels of our current Spring.  Many people are already relaxing and entertaining in their backyard while others know the weather will soon be good enough to do so.   Sharing a bit of personal history, years back when I lived on the East Coast I had an infatuation with the flower most commonly known as the Bird of Paradise.  (My mother shared this infatuation with me, by the way.)  I always admired it for being a beautiful tropical flower, always looking so elegant and stylish to me. Decades ago, if I ever sent flowers, I would ask that the arr...

Another Speechless Sunday Post: check out these chairs... those who read my post consistently might remember I have written about one of our neighbors. When he moved here, he took it upon himself to get all the stray cats off the streets and give them a home in his house and back yard. Well after about six or seven years later looks like his chairs made it to the curb. Holly and I discovered it as we did our late-night stroll. Yes when I told Diane she knew about it already. She was given a heads up. I suggested to Diane to introduce our neighbor to scratching posts:)Wishing you a safe and healthy life and I look forward to your comments. Speechless Sunday: The Last Bookstore's hidden treasures... as Michael Jacobs  mentioned this is more than just a book store, there are artists  and various talents hidden on the upper level. I would have been remiss if I did not post something about them. Since it is Sunday and some of us are Catholics might appreciate it and even some of the other religious believers might enjoy it too. So with that said Happy Sunday everyone! Please check out what is in the cross:)) Wishing you a safe and healthy life and I look forward to your comments. Shop Small on Independent Bookstore Day!Hard to believe that the Last Bookstore opened ten years ago in Downtown Los Angeles. Diane and I had to be at the grand opening. Now with that said I received an email that it has been ten years since the date.We were both busy, but I could not let this event go by without stopping in. Now then to boot I received an email from American Express that if I go and shop, I will get a $25 credit.  Clearly it was a sign for me to go.Ten years ago, I bought a T-shirt for Diane, I know I was not a big spender see the photo. Don't worry she bought a whole bunch of books to make up for it:))Hence, I decided this time to buy both of us a T-shirt, since we all have more books than life in us to read. I hope you will get a kick out of this. Today two T-shirts ...

Those of you who have been reading my posts for the past 12 plus years know that every year Diane & I go to the Los Angeles Festival of books. Last few years we have been less than enthusiastic about it due to the Pandemic Shutdown... anyway this year we went again. Would you believe yesterday was in the mid to high 80's and humid. Needless to say, it wore both of us out.Today was a perfect day in the low 70's but Diane and I had a lot on our plate today... for me two Escrows and for her other stuff. Sadly, we missed today. Now keep in mind I have stopped being a reader, I am now just a book collector. Gratefully Diane is still a reader. Soon I am planning on being a book seller:) In the meantime if you are looking for a focused Realtor who used to love reading and now collects books rea...

In all fairness some people never grow up. Now with that said I appreciate it and I am jealous. My father used to call me' the old man' when I was young, I was always focused and serious, not something you would expect a three- or four-year-old to be.Well, I was driving in Los Angeles the other day from one appointment to another. As I was heading home, I saw this guy, my guess late to mid-sixties with a white beard and white mustache anyway you get the ide on a tricycle.Last time I was on a tricycle was about 60 plus years ago. See for yourself. Now if you are looking for a serious and focused Beverly Hills Realtor, please reach out to me directly.  Let me know if you agree:)))    Wishing you a safe and healthy life and I look forward to your comments. Wordless Wednesdays: Would you buy this house? One of my Active Rain friends wrote a post about questions you should ask your Realtor and I chimed in that not all questions are appropriate. Here is my counter point, please check out these photos and tell me if you do or do not like this house? Nothing wrong with either answer. My take is not all buyers have the same taste as their Realtor.Perfect example is, I loved this house, the client I sent the pictures to and many videos did not. No hard feelings this was a great value at $3.700,000 but he did not think this was his house.... So, with that said is if he would have asked me if I would buy this house the answer would have been yes, but he did not ask he just said it was not for him.   Wishing you a safe and healthy life and I look fo...

Speechless Sunday: Wiley thinks everyone is his pillow, now Holly has become his new pillow.... as most of you know, Wiley was our outdoor cat who decided to join us indoors and never wanted to leave the house.Over the years he improved, not only did he not want to leave the house he graduated to only wanting to leave the bed, to eat, drink and take care of personal business.Okay once in a while he will go to the couch and sleep there.  Keep in mind at night either Diane, or I am his pillow. So, with that said it was refreshing to see him using Holly as his pillow.   Wishing you a safe and healthy life and I look forward to your comments. Not trying to bore you with another dinner post but why not? It is more fun than writing about Real Estate Drama:)As you know Wayne Martin  inspired me to do some squid in pasta meals, well tonight was another one. This one was a Broccoli / Lemon/ Shrimp Farfalle recipe.1. Argentinian shrimp baked with olive oil, lemon juice and soy sauce2. Broccoli covered with a mixture of olive oil, lemon juice, lemon zest, shredded parmesan cheese and about two tablespoons of mayonnaise. Both baked in the oven for about 25 minutes at 425 degrees.3. Boiled the pasta with a little salt and one garlic clove.4. When pasta was al dente in about 9 minutes combined both the Broccoli & the shrimp.Bon AppetiteLet me know what you think of it. "... Don't be a slave to recipes, to weights and measures, but let your convictions, and above all, love guide you...." Picolo Segreti a quote from Sophia Lorren's cookbook that truly resonates with me all the time. This meal was inspired by Wayne Martin  quiz that mentioned Squid Ink pasta and the comment from Brian England  to the quiz. So, with that said I decided today to make this meal, since Diane was all intrigued by what I described, and she reminisced of the "good old days when we used to eat in the North End of Boston" well you know the Little Italy of Boston. The actual recipe came from "Pasta Modern" the cookbook I referenced in previous posts.Instead of doing a late evening dinner Diane wanted a late afternoon dinner instead. Now with that said she thought the meal was five s...

This post was inspired by an Active Rain challenge:  What was my first home buying experience like? Thank you Kathy Streib  and Carol Williams  for inspiring me to go down memory lane.As always, a bit of background! After finishing high school, I moved away to college and then joined the military; so basically, not having lived at home with my parents for about nine or ten years, my room became my mother’s art studio, housing her easel, paints and paintings. The guest bedroom became my father’s home office. I find it funny to look back on this now remembering 2020 when so many converted at least one room into a home office, clearly my parents were ahead of the times back in the late 1970’s.However, moving back home I did and once I did, I was quickly reminded of one of the reasons why I...

Diane told me she did not want to have something that was too heavy or filling. So, with that said I decided to do something simple and easy to eat. Two out of the three ingredients were very simple to do. Now the third ingredient was a bit labor intensive.Well look at the picture, what do we have here? Indian Candy aka smoked, marinated Salmon, Colossal King Crab leg and baked stuffed artichoke with Lump Crabmeat and other delicious fillings. The baked artichoke was inspired by the Sophia Loren cookbook and her recipe, now with that said she did a very simple baked artichoke, I felt I needed to bring it to the next level.I decided to search and add shredded four cheese that I had in the fridge and then decided to shred some parmesan cheese, add some panko breadcrumbs, and a can of lump ...
