Thank you, Debe Maxwell, CRS , for inspiring me to write these gratefulness posts. I was not sure if I would be able to do all four, but I managed to get it done. Thank you again. Now with that said, I am so grateful for being in such a good place financially, that we can afford a great deal of luxury when it comes to cooking and eating gourmet food, to name one subject. Just as a background, I have managed to collect, as most of my regular readers know over 190 + cookbooks in the past 29 years. Some were gifts from friends and Active Rain peeps, they know who they are so I will not embarrass them😊. Many of these cookbooks were written by Michelin rated Chefs whose restaurants we had the pleasure of dining in. Not just here in the United States but in Europe as well. Honorable mentions g...

I seldom write market reports, nevertheless I keep a close eye on about 15+ zip codes. one of them being 90020. More affectionately known as Hancock Park.Hancock Park has about 1,200 homes within the boundaries of Wilshire Boulevard on the south, Melrose Avenue on the north, both sides of Highland Avenue on the west and both sides of Rossmore Avenue on the east.Sat Nov 25 2023This week the median list price for Los Angeles, CA 90020 is $9,995,000 with the market action index hovering around 35. This is about the same as last month's market action index of 35. The market continues to get hotter. More sales demand and fewer homes listed have contributed to a relatively long run of increasing prices. Current supply and demand levels show no sign of prices changing from their current trend....

Well it is almost Thanksgiving: do you have a favorite butternut squash recipe? I am just curious since Diane loves it and when her mother was alive, she never gave the recipe, because it was always: well, boil it, add some butter and mash it:)   Would love to see what your recipe consists of if you make it:))Diane tasted mine tonight and I made differently from previous times and she was not exited hence my question:) Wishing you a safe and healthy life and I look forward to your comments. Motivation Monday: quotes from Julia Child... since Thanksgiving is right around the corner, I thought I would take a few minutes and share some of Julia Child's thoughts.  "...Food like the people who eat it, can be stimulated by wine or spirits. And, as with people, it can also be spoiled..."  "...No One is Born a Great cook, one learns by doing..." this reminded me of Real Estate and Realtors:)) "...Find something you're passionate about and keep tremendously interested in it..." go figure this reminded me of Real Estate again."...Cooking takes all of your intelligence and all of your dexterity. It's always creative, It's always new, it's always fun..."Thank you, Mrs. Butter, :))))Wishing you a safe and healthy life and I look forward to your comments. If you are looking for a knowle...

Speechless Sunday: Thanksgiving is right around the corner.Just to be clear one of my favorite Holidays is Thanksgiving. I believe it is truly the American Holiday. Sadly, I have seen over the decades that everywhere Thanksgiving is pushed into the background. The rest of the Holidays are being pushed in front of it. Personally, I do not decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving. Instead, I decorate for Thanksgiving.Ironically, we have been going through phases where people could not say Merry Christmas because it was more 'politically correct' to say, "Happy Holidays" Really???Anyway, now with that said today I started the Thanksgiving Decorations. Tomorrow I am picking up the Turkey and starting the Brining process.Just to be clear I started the prepping for the Great American Di...

Yesterday I went to Canter's, a well know Jewish Deli in Los Angeles.  Just to be clear, when I am near it, and conducting Real Estate I make it my time to stop and get some delicatessen or desert and have been doing it for the past 26+ years. A little history, The Canter family originally opened a deli in Jersey City, N.J in 1924 and came to California after World War Two around 1948.  Since the Fairfax District of West Hollywood has been predominantly consisting of a larger Jewish population, they decided to move and open a Deli there. Then after their success they expanded and moved to a better location and added a restaurant. If you ever wanted a perfect Matzo Ball Soup, take my word Canter's is the place. The sad part is what is going on in Israel today, it had a negative effect here...

One of the hardiest, most impressive, and simply delicious fruits is the Pomegranate. I never had it until we came to Los Angeles and now not only am I but so is Diane, we are addicted to it. The other day I bought two Pomegranates, and I could tell Diane was keeping an eye on when I will serve it.When I did, she said "about time":)   the Pomegranate is light red and utterly delicious fruit. I remember one of our midwestern raised friends came over when I served it she was a bit hesitant. Once she tasted it there was another fan.On my walks with Holly, I know of one of our neighbors who has a Pomegranate brush and I enjoy seeing that they get maybe three or four fruits per season. So glad I can buy them in the store.Over the years I have learned how to open the fruit and get the little ...

Thank you Debe Maxwell, CRS  for the inspiration to write another grateful post, this being my second in the past twelve days.  As I reflect, I realize I could write a book not a post; I'm sure I'm not alone in my thinking on this, particularly if we take a minute or two to look around us.    I'll begin with my parents who instilled in me a strong work ethic, morals and principles.  As new immigrants who arrived in Austria from Communist Hungary, we shared stories and reminisced about places we lived, restaurants at which we ate, people we left behind, all during the times when things were extremely challenging. We did not even have a television, unimaginable in this day and age.  But we had a radio and we had books!  My father was an avid reader, and I can thank him for introducing me ...

This post or should I say meal was inspired by my friend Hannah Williams . Who posted a recipe, and I mentioned that I will make this with some of my signature changes on it. Needless to say, her recipe was great, and it made me bake this meal! Now with that said. Let's start with the chicken breast. I marinate the chicken for 3-4 days in the fridge with: lemon juice, low sodium soy sauce, and extra virgin olive oil in a glass container with plastic wrap covered.I used heirloom tomato and added fresh basil on top. Since I am a firm believer if we are using tomato, basil and fresh mozzarella cheese (also a change from the recipe, it had firm mozzarella cheese) I might as well add some Balsamic Fig reduction on top.Additionally, I add more Extra Virgin Olive Oil on top of the chicken, and ...

Lately I have been a tad busy, for which I am very grateful for. There is a potential of 6-10 listings coming on the market. Then to booth there is a couple transaction that might actually close...time will tell. Now with that said I am digressing....I am a bit preoccupied with work so when I made the dinner, I almost forgot to serve one of the ingredients. Now I am sure you will know what was missing and got a laugh out of it. (yes the green stuff almost did not get served)Wishing you a safe and healthy life and I look forward to your comments. We replaced a love seat: little did we know what this would create... well to be clear, Diane decided to get rid of the love seat we had before I met her. I have so many wonderful memories of being in the chair with her dog Jezebell that I changed her name to Gizmo:) we used to watch TV together in Boston. Then the chair was moved and ultimately here in Los Angeles for the past nine years it was in Diane's home office. The only one that would spend time in it was Wiley.... So, go figure the New Chair arrives and it becomes a power struggle Jill or Wiley who get to spend time in it? Clearly not me or Diane as it was intended. The good news is that now the power struggle is over, and Jill and Wiley are sharing. Just to be clear the pet friendly Realtor has no room in it, nor does Diane who ...
