Sadly, here I am posting again about the Pacific Palisades fires, which grew to 22,660 acres by Saturday morning, and evacuations stretched all the way to Encino, Tarzana and Brentwood, then to boot on Friday night flames lit up ridge lines and threatened homes in Mandeville Canyon as well.   Additional evacuation warnings were issued for the following two areas: Sunset Boulevard to the south, Mullholland Drive to the north, Roscomare Road to the east and the 405 Freeway to the west; and Mulholland/Sepulveda Boulevard to the south, the 405 Freeway to the east, Ventura Boulevard to the north and Louise Avenue to the west. Sadly, with a heavy heart I am giving another update about the Pacific Palisades fires. The recent devastating fires in Pacific Palisades and in Malibu have left many families without homes, belongings, or a sense of stability.  The fires continue and as of this afternoon were only 8 per cent contained. I am only focusing on these two areas right now for the purpose of this update. This tragedy has not only destroyed properties but also shaken the hearts and spirits of those impacted.The fire has already consumed around 20,438 acres. Sadly, many businesses and restaurants along Pacific Coast Highway and Sunset Blvd to name a few, have been burned to the ground. Thank you for all of you, who checked in, called, texted and emailed me as to how we are doing with the fires. I thought I would give a quick update here.We are safe, since we live next to Los Angeles International Airport, better known as LAX. We have had very few power outages over the years, and they only lasted a very short time, because we are in the same grid as LAX. As well as gratefully no devastating fires in our area over the years. Let me share with you, these devastating fires are about 15 miles from us. The closest one was about 9 miles from us in the Hollywood Hills, but it was contained late this morning. The greater Los Angeles area sadly is covered with flammable vegetation and brush, including dense chaparral. End of Summer heat wave in Los Angeles, CA, showing properties can be challenging especially if you are a land specialist. Friday I was heading to one of my listings in Pacific Palisades for a showing.Went through Brentwood, CA and look at what the temperature gage was showing. Had to smile that is what our current Vice President calls home. Well, I continued to my listing, two streets below in the Pacific Palisades, CA that Tom Hanks has his home. Now look at the temperature my phone was showing.In all fairness I have been in the greater Los Angeles area for 26+ years and this heat wave was unexpected and not accustomed to it. The Pacific Palisades beach community is very interesting when it comes to Real Estate, there is a great many Single Family Residences and at the same time there is a good balance of Condominiums as well. Hence the buyers who prefer Condominium life style and choose to live in Condominiums. Keep in mind it is not a budgetary reason it is a life style. I still remember 20 years ago going through a Townhome and it was full of Laker's Memorabilia, yes you guessed it. One of my favorite parts of Los Angeles happens to be Pacific Palisades it is a very affluent "suburb of Los Angeles" I have written about the fact that people leave their chairs out the night before the 4th of July Parade so they can have good seats at the parade... No one steals, the chairs a life almost too good to be true.About 18 years ago I remember walking through a  Townhome and it was covered with Lakers Pictures,  framed T-shirts of Laker Players well it turned out there was a connection.....Jerry West always had a connection to Pacific Palisades...  in the not too recent past he bought his son a Towne Home (around 2013) and has still a foothold in Pacific Palisades. Recently I was asked how does the Real Estate Market compare to two specific areas? Needless to say Beverly Hills and Pacific Palisades usually do not get compared. Two different demographics never the less I said;No problem let's look at the inventory for starters: Then my thought was let us look at the Median Days on Market that usually tells a lot. I was expecting Beverly Hills to be a faster market. Well see for yourself!Imagine my surprise clearly it is evident that the Pacific Palisades is a faster market. There is a desire to live in Los Angeles but have the "suburban feel" close to the Ocean and close to Beverly Hills. The Palisades is more of a Bedroom Community, hence it tells me that there is a higher demand for such an opportunity.Now the Pending sales surprised  me as well ... 07/31/2016
