Have you ever been to Loomis, California?  If you live in the Sacramento area and haven't been there, plan to take a little drive this Saturday October 1st 2011 for the 24th Annual Eggplant Festival.  From Sacramento, take the 80 freeway to Horseshoe Bar Road, go north a few blocks to Taylor Road, and you will be in the heart of the small town of Loomis.  It takes me less than 30 minutes from my home in Fair Oaks, and it is a pleasant and easy drive. One of my favorite ways to spend a day is at the High Hand Nursery and art gallery on Taylor Road just a couple of blocks west of Horseshoe Bar.  And the High Hand Conservatory is one of my favorite restaurants.  I really enjoy the small town feel of Loomis too - everyone is friendly.
