 A Big Shift in FHA’S Condo Requirements.  A win-win as FHA “finally” lowers owner-occupancy requirement for condos: Federal Housing Administration (FHA) Principle Deputy Assistant Secretary Edward Golding, announced at last year’s National Association of Realtors (NAR) Conference and Expo they're hoping for a shift toward a lower owner-occupancy rate requirement on condominiums. Lowering the owner-occupancy rate requirement on condominiums has been an NAR long-time contention. And finally, on October 26, 2016, the FHA issued a mortgagee letter signed by Golding, lowering the owner-occupancy requirement for existing condominiums from 50 to 35 percent, effective immediately. But the good news comes with some strings – the FHA says the requirements are necessary to “maintain the stability... 10/31/2016
